Forgive me if this is a naive question. I am replacing the timing chain on my 1971 Norton Commando. I know there needs to be 10 rollers between the marks on the cam sprocket and the intermediate gear. But, does it matter what part of the chain is over the mark? In other words, the chain has plates, each plate has two rivets in it, then there's a space, then another plate. So, I have the marks under the space between the plates. Is that ok? Please see pictures of I'm not being clear.

10 rollers is correct. It does not make any difference as far as the plate position.
