I posted recently in the Thread about the Red SF that was listed on EBay. I won the auction, and have taken delivery of the bike

I am writing this on behalf of the gentleman that sold the bike to me.

He has another new SF 961. Silver, single seat. He just picked it up from a dealer in New York. I have pictures of it coming out of the crate.

Now I am not quite sure why he has purchased several new Nortons (yes he has a Black SF coming in soon also) only to resell them. It could be speculation. I did pay about 10% more than I would have if I had put down a deposit and waited for 6 months.

I can vouch for this gentleman. He did not require a deposit for the bike I purchased. He was content to be paid in full after inspection. He is a professional engineer with a major corporation and his father owns a Honda /Suzuki Dealership in Kentucky (which is were the bike will be located for pickup) (Side note: If you pickup the bike there, make sure to look at the 2 1968 Shelby Mustangs he has, with titles signed by Carol Shelby. Major cool factor)

As far as me, my name is John Snead, Matt Rambo at CNW can vouch for me. Comnoz knows a gentleman in Jacksonville, Florida named Stan Keyes who will also vouch for me

So these things being said, if any one is interested in a brand new SF 961, Silver, single seat, send me a PM and I will give you contact info for the seller. Once I give you contact info you will need to deal with the seller direct. I am not involved with the sale in any way, other than sharing this information

Bought it from a NY dealer? There's only 1 that I know of in NY. Mine. Makes me a bit skeptical. Dan Van Epps stopped in there the other day. Sure would have liked to sit in on that meeting.

Your comment above is based on intelligence and common since, I agree with the logic.

I have posted what I know. And, I am also a skeptical person. I used that skeptical attitude when I purchased the red SF on EBay. The deal went well for me, although I paid more than if I had purchased directly from a dealer. I will admit it was an impulse purchase. Although as of this moment, I have no buyer's remorse.

This unit (Silver SF / mono posto) will more than likely be on EBay later this week. The seller told me about the opportunity, and I suggested I post that opportunity here. Considering bidding that occurred on the Red SF, there is a good chance that this second SF will sell on EBay.

I most likely not write any additional posts in this thread. I will respond to any PM's requesting contact information for the seller. As I said in in the original posting, I have nothing to do with the sale, other than making fellow Norton enthusiasts aware of the opportunity. Any person interested should use their own vetting skills to insure confidence in the sale.

I think most bike purchases are on impulse. Looking at the list you own, you should know. Just want to let you know, my skepticism is not in the least way associated with you. As you may have read, I've been having some Norton issues, they have a few being repaired NOT in a timely fashion. It could just be they are just a stopover point for some bikes because the original of the original 10, they sent 2 or three out. Could just be me "overthinking" things because so far, I'm not a satisfied customer as much as I love the bike. I rode it for a little over 2 weeks, had a ball, and its been in the shop for about 2 months.

Yes, I am hoping to have better luck with this 961. I am in deep trouble if the bike becomes problematic. The nearest dealer is almost 900 miles away. I think anyone buying a new Norton is taking a big risk, and obviously has a great respect for the brand name. Most likely this respect came from the old Commandos.

I am a manufacturer. I understand, first hand, problems associated with launching a new product line.

I will keep my fingers crossed

Seems to be a guy that realized he can make a profit by ordering them and re-selling them at a higher cost to people that don't want to wait 6 months. The idea had occurred to me as well.

Yes, "speculation" is a possibility.

The only thing I will add is, that if someone from this board is interested in purchasing this 961, I can verify that the gentleman selling it is a good guy, and can be trusted.

My purchase of the red 961 was a very pleasant experience. I am not well known on the board, but I have given references of well known posters who can vouch for me.

Just an update.

the Silver 961 SF discussed in this post was sold outside of EBay ( bidding did not make reserve). It sold for $27,800.00

Any news on the silver Café Racer that did not sell on Ebay recently where bidding peaked at $18,600?

Good morning DBono

I watched auction end last night and saw that the reserve was not met. If memory serves me correctly, there is a thread in this 961 forum from the owner of that bike. I believe he announced he was putting on EBay. Maybe he will update the post on the status of the 961 CR. I can only guess two things, 1) with 3 961's on Ebay in the last month, that the pool of buyers has dried up, or 2) Buyers prefer the SF over the CR for riding comfort

There is a Subject line in this forum

"961 Café Racer for sale"

This is the bike that you are talking about. There are no new updates, but the original poster is the owner

If they are anything like me, potential buyers cant ride the Café Racer, as our hips seize up!

I doubt the pool of buyers dried up. Not everyone is checking ebay for a new Norton nor are they aware of this site. Put more of them in the dealerships and they'll sell. By the way, checked out the new Bimmer Nine T at a dealer today. It was sold. Man....its a cool bike, but it is really tiny.

Yeah, I'm guessing most potential buyers are checking with their nearest dealer for a new one, or occasionally checking Ebay for a used 961 at a discount (which I don't think has existed yet). Buying through a non-dealer at a premium cost isn't for everyone. Also, riding season is sort of over for a lot of guys right now, so they make not mind waiting a few months for a new one to come through a dealer.
