Boy oh boy wouldn't it be great if...

Very reasonable prices but got to laugh at the rear hub/cushdrive assembly photo. He must have forgotten to take the photos and remembered whilst have his morning ablutions:eek:

Unfortunately Kenny seems to be out of stock at the moment, but he is another option.

Yup, he is exactly who I was thinking about when I posted this thread. This is my form of motivation. lol

My go-to guy used to be Frank at Clubman Racing, but he also retired and closed up shop...

(unless I'm wrong)

...and that was partly/mainly because he always had the best "pound for pound" price...

I originally bought the clubmans rear sets. They certainly worked ok and were shaped correctly, but the metal tubing was thin and the foot rests had an ugly bolt on the end of them. They looked cheap to my eye, not that my bike is anything to look at mind you, I just wanted a heavier duty set up. If I recall correctly the foot pegs didn't fold up... (or did they?)

Eventually, I bought Don's dunstall reproduction rear sets. They look better, work well, and are much heavier duty. He shipped them fast enough too. The only thing with them is at first the lever felt further away from my toe than the clubman's rear sets I was used to. I wondered if people with small feet found them out of reach because I'm a size 13 shoe size. Eventually I got used to them and I am glad I traded up.

The foot pegs fold up on both sides which makes pushing the bike around while astride it easier, and putting the bike on the center stand less likely to give you a lacerated shin...

The ignorance is wanting American made only without being aware of who is actually doing good things for Commandos

Listen I was just trying to lightheartedly encourage NYC Norton to have their rearsets available but I guess that wasn't as obvious as I thought it was. No need to make this a heated discussion.

GPZ, Frank passed in 2020. RIP. When I last spoke to him, he was undergoing treatment for cancer in his spine. His wife contacted me after he passed in regard to an outstanding order. I don't know who bought his inventory. He was a one man band.

Actually, to me, it sounded more like throwing shade at cNw than encouragement for NYC Norton to spend money.

Mister BeanEater! Message received. Email the shop at info@nycnorton.com and we will set you up.

FYI - one of our CNC machinists passed away suddenly last month and it left a big hole in our lives and our production, and our Rear Set kits were affected. There is a new shop doing a lot of our bulk fab now but it's a bit of reverse engineering for some of this.

I don't think the OP was being tribal nor slagging any supplier. Having said this: NYC Norton does lots of business with CNW, Don Pender (Madass), Dyno Dave, etc. for our builds. There are a lot of good folks doing very good things for our bikes. Let me tell you, the customer base is getting smaller and smaller, so give all of these guys your biz while they are still kicking parts out. It's a very small world.

Let me tell you, the customer base is getting smaller and smaller, so give all of these guys your biz while they are still kicking parts out. It's a very small world.
Example: I had license plate mounting brackets made to mount them to the older style taillight assembly. I was selling them for $25/set in raw steel and making $1.50/set. I also sold them powder coated for $30/set. When you consider the development time, marketing, taxes, time and materials for me to powder coat, etc. I lost money. It took three years to sell the original 30 sets.

When I tried to have more made, they were going to cost me $60/set plus shipping. Being quite sure I would never be able to sell them, I discontinued them and today send people to cNw. Theirs cost more and are more complicated to install but are already powder coated and I would just as soon not take business away from them.

Similarly, I was developing an oil pressure switch for Norton. When I found out that Don Pender already had one, I stopped and started selling his. I consider my design to be a little better, but I see no reason to try to take part of his tiny market!
