OK, here is the idea.

There is an INOA rally in Ashville, North Carolina in July 2015. I am taking some vintage Nortons to the rally. I have asked the rally administrator if new 961's are welcome. He said of course they are welcome. ( I took my 961 to the Barber INOA Turn Six Event, and it was well received)

A Facebook friend, who s a 961 owner, is planning on making the trip. And, I believe Ollyoop would be "game" for the trip

I was wondering if the rally would be a good venue to have the largest gathering, and ride, of 961's in North America

Anybody interested?

John

Was already on my radar. Looking forward to it. My dad and I will ride our SE's down from Niagara Falls.

Alright, that is a potential of five 961's at the rally. How about you West coast guys (DBono?) I know a guy in Kentucky that delivers bikes. He will do a West Coast Interstate 5 run to pick up bikes from LA to Seattle.

I love my Nortons, but that's an awfully long way to go to hang out with a bunch of old guys (me included).

Are you bringing your model friends?

Please post a LINK to these models so I can see what everyone is talking about. FLICKR??

Thought I'd share an email packed with INFO. I asked if there would be day passes as I only planned on coming up on the Thursday and Fri. Here is the answer. I really appreciated the in depth reply from Paul. So thank you Paul -- I hope you don't mind I'm sharing this.

Greetings Richard
Sorry for my late reply, but we have been grappling with the issue of 'day passes' for some time, and your note has forced us to address the issue.

This rally is an annual international event, sponsored by the International Norton Owners Assoc. (INOA) and this year, hosted by us, the Greater Atlanta Norton Owner Assoc (GANOA) and some other area clubs. It is open to anyone who appreciates the great Norton marque. The INOA rules won't allow for 'partial registrations'. This years registration fee is $100 for the five day event. If someone can only make it for 4, or 3, or even 1 day, the $100 fee still applies. This is because there are so many expenses involved in the setup, dinners, live entertainment, awards, and much else. Bottom line, if you stay on site, even for one night, you are part of the event, and full fees apply.
That said, we have decided to make 'day passes' available on the final day, Friday, which is when our formal bike show will be held. We expect some interest from local residents. A nominal fee of $10 would be asked from non-rally attendees, Gates would open mid-morning and it would require their exit by 5:00pm when our final banquet dinner and live entertainment will be held. This sounds like what you might be looking for.

The KOA campground is quite large, but we don't yet know how many rally attendees we will host, Past events numbered 300 -500. If it fills with week long guests, there may or may not be room for 'one nighters'. The campground has been instructed not to accept partial week reservations until we know for sure. And again, if you stay on site, you are part of the event, and full fees apply.

Please don't misunderstand any of the above. Just want to make sure that the guidelines that are imposed on us are clear.
We would love to have you attend for the the week, a day, or just the show. We will love to have your 961's there as well (we expect there will be some others..). And we completely appreciate your effort to ride down to attend. Continue to check our website, we have local motels listed, and will try to post some other local campgrounds as we can, or you can google for them.
We hope you will consider coming for the whole week. It is packed with activities, rides, museums, food and entertainment.
Hope to see you in July. It will be an awesome event!
Let me know if you have other questions

Thanks,
Paul Reifsnyder

My dad and I are all signed up and camping spot on the lake reserved at KOA. We'll be riding our SE's down from Niagara Falls Canada if anyone wants to meet along the way and we can all ride together.

Thank you John for sharing this and letting us know.

Lol, this was my thought: What will be the Old-Man-to-Hot-Model ratio?
Sounds fun though. Just don't know if I can come that far (from Oregon). I'm already planning on going to Sturgis and some other trips this year.

It is a general universal law, that, there is never a high enough ratio of models to old guys LOL

I had a guy deliver on of my bikes to Matt at CNW. I was discussing the rally and 961 West coast guys with him. He is willing to do a West Coast run up Interstate 5 from So Cal to Washington, and bring bikes to the rally, and then return. This type of mass haul could drastically reduce the cost of getting a bike back to the rally. Of course there is still airfare and travel expenses for the rider. But, just an option.

If there are any West Coast 961 riders interested in this, let me know
