Hi
So some of you who have read some of my posts over the last year may recall that while restoring my Atlas, I decided on a RGM belt drive. The kit utilized the stock AMC gearbox main shaft, stock 9-11/16” Atlas clutch pushrod, and a Commando diaphragm clutch. Now that all the cables are installed and the clutch properly adjusted, I find that the clutch pushrod adjuster in the middle of the clutch is darn near all of the way out. Here’s the question, if I wanted that adjuster to be screwed in quite a bit more is there any reason why the pushrod couldn’t be shortened and then hardened again?

You can do that. I made a 3-piece clutch push rod for the TTi gearbox and in addition to rehardening the push rod sections I also rehardened the RGM adjuster. I don't have that many miles on it, but it all works. You do not need to make a multi-piece clutch push rod with an AMC gearbox.
