I greatly appreciate the situation where contributors to motorcycle forums use their own names or otherwise identify themselves. THe CRMC forum in the UK insists on it, so everbody knows who is talking. Competitors and enthsiasts can follow racing careers by correlating what is in magazines and www.youtube.com, with what is on the forum. As far as this forum is concerned, I love the information about Kenny Cummins, Doug Macrae, and Herb Becker, and I've seen them on youtube - most inspiring. Using our real names in all three places could be really good for our sport. It applies even to newbies, we all have to start somewhere, and even the best of us have ended up on the deck at some time or other.

Says the guy without using his real name...

My real name is: Hugh G. Rection
I just use Mark as an alias when posting online.

How do I change my GRM 450 to my name?
I've tried to do this but can't figure if it is possible????
Hugh Janus.

I see his point, though. There are several Kens, Kenneths, or Kennys on the Forum. People regularly get me (Ken Canaga) confused with Kenny Cummings. Just to set it straight, Kenny is the fast racer, I'm the old guy who used to race. Besides, Kenny is in New York, and I'm in California. And I'm bright and witty and handsome and so on, and Kenny is..... Oh, wait, maybe I better not go there.

Your turn, Kenny.

Ugh, hobot is left over handle from b/w text bulletin boards days when I was hiding identity form powers that be while active in State Right to Succeed and re populating Texas Republic and banking outside the US tax system. Gave up the the political stuff and got the IRS licked so just a sneaky habit now. As a live man no name can really describe or identify us but for directing or getting ones attention I'm known as Steven Otis, [like when mother super upset with me] Family tribal sur-name is Shiver. Due to scramble eggs brains i can forget faces and names but remember the rides. All my ex-s is in Texas so I hang my hat in Arkansas Dixieland.

As preamble American National only Sec. of State has jurisdiction to deal with likes of me. Declared I was not at War with US Inc. so they give me safe passage, even though airport customs others get fluffed up in. Another life in another world than cycle-dom though.

Holmeslice. Or 'Slice to you, Ken.

I think most everybody here "plays nice" so it seems to me to not be an issue. Wasn't there a thread on user names and how we came by them, some while back? Cj

Hobot-looks like you threw yourself at the ground and hit.

I'll show you mine, if you show me yours ! - Name, that is.

I know your name, Alan. I read your letter in this month's 'Motorcycle Classics'.

I'm always BillT or BillTS3 (S3=Speed Triple) if BillT is taken

I look at it from the other side of the coin. By not using our names, we try......that's try, as we don't always succeed, to keep personalities out of the discussions. If a newbie knew he were disagreeing with an experienced builder, it could be intimidating. Anonymity allows for a more open exchange of opinions and ideas.

I know that if I had known more about who Swooshdave was, I would have been reluctant to chastise him for not painting his tank.
