Amal needle valve fault

pictures of faulty needle here. The one on the left with my Thumb in the picture is the good side, the other shows the shadow made by the small bulge.
For those wanting evidence of the 5 pin relay used as a Warning Light Assimilator, here is how I have mounted mine. Don't aske me to explain how it works,. It just works.

Thanks for the link to the photos and the photos themselves..
I had trouble zooming in on photobucket so have imbedded the pictures on this page so I can expand the view.
Even so, I can't quite make out the damage but your previous explanation helped.

The black line you see at the join between the Viton and the brass in the bottom photo, is the shadow of where the Viton is squeezing out of the brass needle.

How the hell did you put those photos there.
