I recently sold my café racer, but before doing so pulled off the custom Corbin seat and brand new short open Motad exhaust with stainless headers and decatted X-pipe.

I also have second generation South Bay mufflers in very good condition.

I'm in San Francisco and would prefer to deal locally, if possible.

So, if you have any interest, please PM me.

FYI, I know there is a classified section on the website, but that's mostly all classic Commando stuff, so figured this note would be more relevant to this forum.

Thanks

For what it is worth, I met DBono at Sonoma Racetrack this year. He showed up on an immaculate Mark 3 Commando. I am sure from seeing the Mark 3 that he keeps all of his stuff in pristine condition

Thanks John. Yes, all are in pristine condition. The right side SB muffler has a mark where the chain hit the exhaust, but otherwise are perfect.

The seat is the same as in the picture in my signature block and you can see the larger version in my post, "Loving My Café Racer".

I will take some more pics over the weekend and post them.

I'd be interested in the seat. Can I assume the Cafe Racer and Sport use the same seat design?

PM me with a price please! :D

Peter

The custom Corbin seat is in excellent condition. It is the same width in front as where it meets the fuel tank, but much thicker padding and better shape. It was made with classic black leather, with "Corbin" in black thread.

I spent $600 and a Saturday at the Corbin factory while they made it from scratch. If interested, please PM me with an offer.

Do you think the seats on the Sport and the CR are identical? There are two angled bolts on my Sport seat - does yours attach the same way?

I don't know for sure if they are the same, but would think so.

Mine does attach with angle bolts. You can see the holes in the bottom of the seat.

Ok, seat is sold. Thanks contours.

I still have both exhaust systems. PM me if interested.

Bump.

Exhaust systems now listed in Classified section, but not getting any inquiries. I gather most all 961 owners have already upgraded their exhausts.

Too bad for me as I spent $3,000 on this stuff and was hoping to get some back.

Why don't you try the person who bought your bike ? They may want a performance exhaust now. You never did say why you sold the 961 .

My bike developed fueling issues relating to a combination of failed sensors, ECU and fuel pump. After an extended period with the dealer unable to rectify the problems and with the bike still under warranty, I reached an amicable agreement with the factory to re-purchase the bike. So, I removed the after-market bits before sale.

It didn't help in this case that the dealer and factory were feuding due to a combination of limited support from the factory and the dealer being somewhat inept regarding the 961. I hear that the factory is looking to replace the dealer, but that's just a rumor at this stage.

As a long time Norton fan, I'm not happy with the outcome, as I truly enjoyed the bike while it was running well for some 6,000 miles. However, the factory did stand behind the product, for which I'm grateful.

If I didn't have other bikes I love riding and require some tinkering, I'd likely still have the 961. The Dominator still interests me...and, I'm on the wait list for the V4...

Hello Dbono , Thanks for the feedback . The Norton V4 will have to have its own section on the forum I suppose . That will be great when you finally get it . I am looking forward to a fantastic report on it. As of yet even the motorcycle media have not driven it.

Although I'm on the list, I'm not committed. We'll see what initial reviews are like and finances at the time, and make the decision down the road. My perspective at this stage is that it is a free option.

If I counted the time I was on the Kenny Dreer wait list, think I waited nearly 4 years for the 961.

When searching for a Lotus Elise after becoming available in the U.S., came across a guy that bought two of them after getting on the early wait list, drove them for a year and sold both for a profit. Says he does it all the time. Hmmm.

Hello Dbono , I hope Norton get this machine right the first time . Do you have any idea when the media will be riding it ?
