aerodynamic norton?

I just finished a 200 mile blast on my 750 here in yuma, everything worked great but that wind beat the bark off me.

Does anybody outhere in norton land know of anybody who sells a fairing(windshield) that will work with clubman bars?

Thanks

Dennis Manning at BUB Enterprises could probably help with aerodynamic Nortons. He said this one was good over 300mph. :) Not sure about the clubman bars, though.

WAAAY cooler looking than that Ala Verde abomination but, wonder how it would do on the speed bumps that are spread around all small towns here in Mexico? I guess at 300MPH it wouldn't really matter after the first one. :)

You know I have a problem with calling those top speed motorcycles. Sure they have 2 wheels and the same motor, but its not a bike in any form at all. I think the original form of the bike should be intact. Maybe thats just another class

I tried to use a set of clubmans with my production racer fairing. Couldn't get enough clearance. Besides, a production racer fairing will severely restrict your turning lock.

You might look at one of the BMW R90S style headlight mount fairing. It doesn't provide a tremendous amount of protection, but it helps some.

I had clubman bars coupled with a Dunstall fairing back in the 80's. I'm not sure of the Prod Racer fairing's dimensions, but I think it might be close to the Dunstall's. The Dunstall fairing with the clubmans had to be trimmed about 2 inches on each side to provide complete clearance for the bars lock-to-lock. In it's present form, my Combat now sports a new Dunstall fairing with Tomeselli clip-ons...no trimming necessary. The fairing provides some wind protection, especially when coupled with rearsets. Of course, maximum protection is provided by a large, full fairing. Unfortunately, that type of functional fairing on a Commando would be blasphemy (IMHO).

Regarding my minimal Dunstall fairing, I felt lucky several times this past winter, riding with temps in the low 40's crouched behind my small windshield... especially when I would look over at my two Commando buddies sitting bolt upright...taking that 75 mph blast straight it in the face!

Here's my setup:

Really pretty - that configuration is what my ultimate Commando would look like but I'm making do with a fastback at the moment. When I was making the decision to do that or the fastback the issue became steering lock/low bars and the ability of the bike to negotiate extremely narrow cobblestone streets and I was advised by folks who know that it would just not be workable here in Mexico. :(

I was just reading the whole saga of you bike. Great read. I don't think there is much difference between the proddy fairing and the dunstall.
