Adding an Alton starter to my café racer

What brand rear sets did you use for this bike? Have been looking to get some for my featherbed build but cant decide on what to go with.

Homemade, I made a LOT of parts for this bike, the rearsets are one offs.

I had thought about that, but what has halted me was getting the actual foot rest peg. That is way above my skill set. Thanks Jean GREAT looking bike

Thanks. Years ago before I had any of the tools I have now like a lathe, all I had was hand tools, files, hacksaw... and a little electric welder only good enough for 1/16" rods. I found the stock Norton folding rear pegs had a round area onto which a standard piece of ½" steel water pipe would fit with very little filing. I used that to make some rearsets, worked pretty well and cost next to nothing except elbow grease.

I have a lathe and and bridgeport along with other bits that were handed down to me. I am just lacking the skill and knowledge. But I practice and put in time on it wasting material. What aluminum are you using to make your parts with? 6061? Can you suggest a certain type that is easy to work with?

I use 6061, it is easy to machine and strong enough. I don't have any machinist training, I just try things and when they work out, use them. Sometimes it may take me more thinking time than a trained machinist, but time is what I have plenty of 8)

I am not knocking you in trying to learn, this is why some people have served a five year apprenticeship and going to technical college (here in the UK) to get the engineering qualifications , well enough to work in a toolroom.
There are some things you cannot learn from a book

We see your bike is up for sale.

Nice looking cycle....

Yes, I'm selling for a few reasons. First the riding position may be cool looking, but it is not for me, with wrist pains I couldn't ride it for very long. Second, it's done, finished, so if I can't ride it like it should be ridden, then someone else can do it and lastly, it will give me a bit of cash to start another one 8)
