850 MKIII Swing Arm Grease Fitting?

And I'm guilty of the opposite. Having owned my MKII since new, I oiled the swingarm every time I changed the rear tire. It leaked out, of course.

The MKII has a unique swingarm, with felt wicks and welsh plugs like the MKIII but also with a central fixing bolt like earlier models. Somewhere around 30,000 miles I took it apart for service and found it to be as clean and slippery as the day it was born. I still oil it once in a while... and watch it drip out.

I always thought that the MkIIa had the welch plug/wick set up. My dad has a MkII (3096XX), and it still has the old center spindle bolt / lube nipple arrangement.

But then, who knows - the one thing that they were consistent with was their inconsistency!! LOL!!
 
The sealed pivot assembly was used on later Mk2s and Mk2As, not just Mk2A.
