I've never seen any additional fuse holders in Mk3 headlamp harness sections, new or old,

To know about the headlamp fuses, you either need to have had a bike that had them, or have a lot of experience.

Do any other Mk3 owners have what appear to be factory fuses in their Mk3's headlamp shell?


They do not "appear" to be factory, they are. The fact that you had no idea does not cast doubt upon that. And YES, many owners do, unless we are somehow to believe that the attrition rate of models that had the headlamp fuses has been significantly higher than the remainder.
 
Just to put my two cents in, I also once owned an E-start with the three fuses in the headlamp shell, and have seen a few since. It was a mystery then (1992), and apparently still is.

Well, I think only partially wrong as it doesn't seem to apply to all Mk3s. Certainly no evidence of additional fuses in my Mk3's old harness. If this was a common feature then replacement harnesses would have them.
 
I wonder if the 3 headlamp fuses are anything to do with extra Police equipmen, although I've owned a couple of ex Police bikes and can't remember them having the fuses.

Well, nothing about any additional fuses in the manual as they would be lower rated than the main "35A" (blow) fuse.

None shown on the wiring diagram, only the main fuse.

My 1976 Mk3 didn't have them and the original owners manual doesn't reference them.

No fuse holders in my 75 Mk3 headlight bucket. I'll test the main ign switch and the bar end switch. If the main ign switch is the culprit, are these still available?
 
Probably 3 versions (or more) and only the main one published in the shop manual(with canadian notes).

If you have 3 fuses please post your VIN so we can determine if it's early with tin WLA or or canadian electronic headlight module !!

In my case
Vin# is 326xxx
Definitely not Canadian
Metal can assimilator mounted by coils
Correct part numbers on speedo and tach but no logos at all. Makes me wonder if they came to the US with kph and were switched out at dealership or that’s all they had at the factory when it was built.

Many years ago I thought there were only a few hundred early WLA version but later learned the was at least a thousand though I never actively searched for the highest #.
Anyone early WLA with a higher vin with fuses?

Sorry for the Chinese Fire Drill,,,,,, guess what, I'm an Idiot. Forgot that there are four positions on the key switch , pilot to the left, off, Ignition to the right, and ignition an lights to the far right !!!!!
Feeling pretty stupid, but on the bright side , I have lights!!!!

Well for what its worth. My MKIII is stamped 3/75 and does not have fuses in headlamp bucket. And with a lot of help from Jerry and TexasSlick, hope to keep the bucket fairly clean.

Outside I have 325367 though I have never previously looked at the 3 fuse question on any bike.
The early MKIII tin can WLA version has long been known (over 20 years).
Many years ago I moded a schematic to show that feature. I've never seen any factory published data.
Currently I have a request to another friend for his WLA model VIN.
So if anyone has a tin can WLA model above 326xxx please post here or PM me.
Highest WLA vin wins a prize.
 
My MKIII is 329XXX, no fuses in bucket. I am the third owner, so I can not swear to originality.
