the Six million Dollar QUESTION , how does it RIDE ? .

The National Motorcycle museum must know something of the Chaincases , youd think - due to haveing to have replicated them :? .
Or was it Norman White & someone had some spares ? .

good Effort .
will this chap do replicers of the Works Forks to order . :P

Hi Matt, The Question " How Does it ride" ? The answer is Great, which is plesantly surprising! as its early days yet. Ive ridden at six meetings so far and despite engine problems and lousy weather things are progressing well ,At the last dry race I lapped within 1 second of my production racer. a bike I'm very at home on. The circuit Ive mostly ridden on has a 800m straight and the bike is very stable flat out ( Much more than my proddie bike) on the slower of the two chicanes i grounded the footrests on both sides, on the fast esses curb to curb didnt upset the Bike at all and their is no steering damper fitted! There is an issue with the front suspension , under heavy braking the front wheel was bottoming out on the fairing and the wheel was locking. Ive since fitted the Lansdowne conversion kit and a set of harder springs, however I fell of it before I could get the forks dialled in . But overall , its looking promising. For this year Ive raised the footrests and am considering losing one of the front discs and reducing the width of the tank by a couple of inches to allow a better tuck in.

Replica forks could be available , but the way I went about it they cost Lots of K Pounds and almost twice as much K$$$

Jean, thanks for posting those shots of the original JPN , I havent seen those before. I'm especially interested in the cockpit eye view , The Heady steady on mine is different in the fact that mine has a complete tube holding the iso rubbers and not cutaway as the works one , Initially i had never seen the original when I made made mine only felt one , a crafty hand up the fairing of one of the National Motorcycle Museum exhibits ! ( is being a Nortonaphile Illegal ).

Hope Not else were All Guilty.

lovely bike and a testimony to your skill
if you happen to live near london you might consider to pop over to Mr Peckett (of Mc napp) because last summer i saw 2 replicas being build , copied from the original one someone bought at the auction in Belgium of Podevijn

very impessed that you build it from copiing pictures

it might also be of interest that there are more home)build copies , there is one in germany (saw it at a track day in mas du clos )france) and also one over here in flanders ,
the german one is being used on the track ,the flemish one used as a raodbike

Nice looking bike! Obviously there was a lot of work involved . Just think, if you consistently lead the pack at the races you can name your bike 'The Pied Piper' !

I have had the pleasure of meeting/ speaking to Mike, he's a good guy. a little modest .which aint bad! His endevers are to be praised, and i hope he gets the bike sorted this year.
I will be watching  Easy on the compression Mike, thats the forks, and see you at Darly...Dates please.

I noticed you said you are riding the bike without a steering damper. I never do that. If you ride the bike fast enough to break the front tyre free, you can end up with a lock to lock crashing tank slapper if you don't have a damper. I've had the situation a few times where I've had to let go of the bars and grab the tank. On one occasion when I did that the bike stabilized and looked sweet and lovely, so I grabbed the bars again - too soon ! - immediately got flicked over the front.

Hehe keep the tank slapper reports comming as its a Total Non Issue on Peel's compliantly linked isolastic frame that eagerly invites pilot to loose front tire traction but full lock turns at speed and lifting off surfaces on and off road, its self dampening stablizing and w/o the dam damper is a breeze to steer w/o resistance and allows stunt bike fast pilot fork action to save off road spills I've had Scott's damper set at lowest resistance and narrowest angles of action. When Peel was in prime spanking angry sports bikers i did not bother with any that had fork damper on them as that was a sure sign I quickly found out of so much corner cripple-ness it was both boring to wait up for em and very very dangerous for them to try to follow Peel's lines and power planting speeds. I know I'm one in a row nut case to everyone on my statements but someday will make a lot of sense what everyone else has been missing out for so so long...
Truly the stuff I hear described as fantasic handling racer capabilty was Peels mere base line security zone to commute with reserves and to launch beyond for some real breathtaking blood draining vision narrowing light diming G's forces while hard over leaned. But hope ya can figure out how to make the best of what ya stuck with otherwise w/o crashing trying just a wee bit more fun into turning states so so close to suddenly out of control. Does not apply to Peel thank you very much.
