With my motor that runs no head gasket, I torque to 5 lbs under specs. I find the head stays flatter that way.

Yes, I was told to over-torque on assembly ie only the first time. Torque to the book afterwards.

I hypothesise the factory did this. I’d love that to be confirmed, or denied, by someone how knew.
