71 Norton Commando Roadster

Hello, I am new to this forum. I am trying to register this 71 Norton in NYS. Is the VIN # just the 6 digits on the engine case or is it also the "20M3S" that is stamped just before the 6 numbers. May have read this same situation on another post, just want to be sure before I get the insurance card and complete the required papers.

Its a ' Type ' 20M3S ( Model ) Serial blah X 6 . so the whole cabodle in Norton Speak . Though you never know in N Y C . so will let a Knewyorker Verify .

This part of the forum is for non Commando classic bikes, hence the "Other Classic" heading. There's no problem posting your Commando question here, except this is the housing equivalent of the crawl space.
