Two bikes I love riding are No. 1 my 1955 Manx, and No. 2 the 650SS, the Manx has the edge in handling and braking, but they are different in many ways, Manx you have to keep in it the power band, not hard when you are racing, the 650SS just gun it and it pulls like a train, but it has 150CC extra and longer stroke to bore ratio.
Just love them both :).
Did a recent rally on the 650SS and pulled up at one of the destination points and a couple of guys came over and where surprised to see what they had been chasing at speeds up to 90mph was an old 1963 Norton 650SS, they were riding multi cylinder 1970s bikes and later
They are two totally different bikes, but both good at what they were designed to do.
Burgs

Now I want a Manx too, dammit!

I have to say that Burgs makes it sound clear that the 650 is the better road bike.

So, seeing as you have the 650SS already Glen, you just need to build a Manx and book up some track days !!

The bikes got a lot faster everywhere Doug Hele worked.
Not only did power outputs increase, handling also improved greatly. Those greedy bastards at the top wanted all the profits for themselves, so everything had to be done on a shoestring.
He made some great machinery out of shoestrings!
The 650ss is definitely one. The Triumph Daytona 500 is another.
And then there are the Triples.
