I would keep the mag....get it re-built if necessary. There is a reason aircraft use magnetos....most reliable ignition and able to run on dead battery.

I'm with texasSlick, get the mag rebuilt.
Having a magneto saved the day for me when I was 300 miles from home and the alternator fell to bits!
Best of luck

I'll 3rd that notion to keep the mag.
Electronic ignition won't save you any money, can be a pain to convert and then of course you have to have a full charged battery at all times.
I often run my Atlas with no battery installed at all. If I'm out for regular night rides, then I like the battery for light support, but I'm a big fan of the mag all the way around.

As for the forks, should be pretty straight forward to rebuild them, unless they're binding due to bent tubes or something being tweaked.

Let us know how you go, and I hope you get it up and running soon, so you can enjoy it. The 650ss is likely the greatest Norton roadster ever built.

Send the mag to Tony Cooper.

Follow the manual instructions on aligning the forks, yokes, and spindle, before taking them to bits.

thanks mate gonna take the book in tomorrow and have a nosey :) need to get some fork oil to and a few other bits had a word with my now mate who i got her off and the mag had been fully rebuilt so happy days :) although he did exchange the comp one for a normal k2f which sort of sucks so might hunt for a comp one, need to do some digging into wether they changed it on the 67

There really isn't much difference between K2F and K2FC. See link....http://www.brightsparkmagnetos.com/faqs ... %20K2F.htm

It is mostly a sense of pride to have a C ....unless you are striving for originality.
