Pretty sure that is what is in my combat now. Think the packaging was a little different on the jug I have, probably difference between US and Canada. Will check to see where it was made. Also picked up a 5 L. Jug of Castrol GTX Classic High Zinc Content SAE 20W-50 . Not for use in Modern vehicles . Made in Canada . Never seen it before . For next season .
Hi Torontonian. Not sure crappy sells those blankets. They should be available at the local truck parts outlet though. The problem is some come without "glue to fix them on the sump or oil tank. They can be be a fair bit thick too. I'd try a battery warmer around the cylinders as that's what I did a long time ago.Battery super good . 12.8 dropped quick to 12.3 V. after attempt . Electric starters are close to a dead short what - with the massive amperage they can draw .
Hit the starter and she says no way on this cold day today . Pulled battery for a proper charge . Went to 13.6 , then 5 hrs. later settled in at 12.8 . Temps went up to 10 C. today but rainy . Tomorrow up to 13 , only foggy rain , so I will do the oil change on the street .
Does Crappy tire sell a sump warmer blanket or another source ? Here in Toronto we must do a street flip - over every 2 wks . ,and of course it's across the street legally at the moment , until the 15 th . ' when I move over in front of the studio and have access to an extension cord .
It will be fine, start up, set off like you stole it - no problem, it will run from cold just like it will 25 miles later.Oil change operation to 5W - 50 was a success . The true test will be tomorrow ,when temps drop .
Amazon , as recommended . Should be delivered this afternoon . Street change-over for vehicles is in 3 days , when I can run an extension cord across the sidewalk to use it .Hi Torontonian. Love the new 5W-50 Synthetic . Went to the store and back again , very cold motor , instant start up . Buys me more time in this frigid climate .For me it's marmots - they dig and they chew and they eat the produce in the garden. I borrowed a .22 rifle only to find that my right eye with cataract can't see the bloody things at 50 ft. I can't get a good shot off without the 500 gal propane tank in line behind. But FWIW I can get the MKIII started at 0C. Time to haul out the lap apron and poggies.
Cold setting in. 5 C. outside today . Started up instantly . This oil was the answer .My buddy David showed up this cold evening on his 230 H.P. Yamaha . He was the one who told me to change out the oil to this , so I did . Very grateful and gave him a glass of Sake before the rip back to Etobicoke on the Gardiner W .
So impressed with this oil . Gives me another month , 2 Wks . end of season , 2 wks . in the spring , after our return from Mexico .Cold setting in. 5 C. outside today . Started up instantly . This oil was the answer .
Primary protests no more , starts right up with this oil into the sprag .This afternoon went to start it . Backfire device kicked in for the 1 st. time ever , with a loud clack and then a protest from the battery . I figured it must be more , so drained the primary of 20 W 50 and put in 5W -50 Synthetic , to match the engine oil change . Fired right up , but mangled my oil cap in the primary oil change process . Proper tool couldn't take it after putting a heat gun to the area and it slipped out in protest too .
Threads were dry as a bone . Used a punch and hammer to move it out , seeing as the cap plug was mangled anyways . Drained old oil and put in the lighter synthetic .
I can't see how the oil has improved your sprag? Probably only the old oil was on there for 1st start. Being both 50 weight when hot, where's the difference? But when cold, won't your new (5W) oil drain out of your sprag more quickly than the 20W?Primary protests no more , starts right up with this oil into the sprag .
New issues to deal with , like a fractured pipe at the head .
Can't answer those questions Mart . But I just did the change anyways .I can't see how the oil has improved your sprag? Probably only the old oil was on there for 1st start. I used 5w/40 fully synthetic in the primary and still do, I find it reduces the amount of black toffee like sludge that builds up around the back of the sprag.I can't see how the oil has improved your sprag?
