In the past this group has been so good at providing answers to queries specific to the subject bike, that I thought I'd go the well one more time. I am interested in finding out what the correct mirrors are for this bike. The bike came with a short stem mirror on the left, and in a box of extra parts had a long stem mirror, possibly for the right, pictures of which are attached. I have looked at lots of pictures on the i-net, but the myriad different mirrors I see have not clarified, but rather confused the issue further.

That said, are either of my mirrors correct, or if not do we know what the correct mirror is, if such mirrors are still available, and if so, where to purchase them? Thank you in advance for any assistance you can provide.

Both mirrors are correct, period pieces.

Stock Roadster and Interstate 850 Nortons were fitted with the long mirror stems, like the one you have. The short mirror stem is a non-stock item.

John Player Nortons were equipped with short mirror stems. Not sure what the Hi-Rider models were equipped with.

I don't know of anyone now making mirrors that are identical to the original items.

Do you find you have a good view of your arms with the short stem mirror. If you do, then you know that is the wrong item to use. I tried short stem Harley mirrors on my 71 750 and they were not far enough out to see behind me so I had to take them back. Got a better set with stainless stems [ which to me is far better because I never ever got a good set of chrome stems that did not rust. It used to and still does piss me off. I have long stem mirrors on my 74 850 like yours but effectively both bikes are the same. regards Dereck
