Thanks. I still haven't had time to work on the Norton but I have dribbled a bit of oil into the cylinders and down the valves and later gently turned the engine over with the plugs out for one stroke.
I'm not legally allowed to ride the Norton until end of July so I have 5 months to get it sorted. The bike looks like it's been well taken care of in the past. I want to wait until I've got it started and have put a few miles on it before taking the engine apart (if it runs!). Amd 5 months isn't a lot of time when I can only spare a few hours here and there to work on it.
A new loom, new premier carbs or rebuild kits for the old amals and an EI setup will be my first big purchases.
Next step is to remove the primary cover and see what's going on underneath it. Putting my finger through the inspection hole, the chain is in one piece and tightly adjusted
