I don't think yellow running lights in back are legal in the states. They need to be red. Could be FOS on this but, on my XR, Harley makes a $50+ wiring kit to convert the rear blinkers to running lights too and it includes a pair of red lenses. As much as I would like the increased visibility, I don't want to pay that or change the existing look.

I have never seen Lucas red lenses for that but possibly they made them for a car or someone has copied them.

I like terminal blocks! Nice.

I've inked bulbs with magic marker to get red or green or blue glow. Running lights can be yellow-orange as long as tail and brake light or red-ish.

How many man-hours on the wiring job?
Chuck
I have about 3 hours into the whole rewire.
It helps my alternator and ignition are wired as stand alone units.
The ignition only gets power from the M-unit.

Been a busy summer. Only got the Combat out 3 times. I did start it and ride it around the block a bunch.

But not enough to keep the ethanol from doing harm.

So pulled the new amal premieres off and thoroughly cleaned them.

Also going to flush out the tank tomorrow with a gallon of mineral spirits.

Called up a friend that owns an Airplane repair company and asked about av-gas, He said I've got 5 gallons sitting here come get it.

So I went and picked it up today, we'll see how it all goes in the next day or two.

The kids are back to school full time, so I now have a little free time to work on the bikes, not much thou...

As mentioned earlier, I did some searching and found Red lucas lenses. I have some on the combat now.

Finally pulled the trigger and purchased new rims, spokes and tires.
Doing up a wheel set the way I wanted to in the first place.

Central Wheel Stainless WM3 by 19" front and rear rims
Buchanons SS 8ga spokes and nipples
Avon Roadrider AM26 100/90-19 tires
Polished and clear coated hubs. I turned the fins off the rear hub, turned out nice.

I've got wheel building down. 15 minutes to lace, 15 minutes to tighten and true, and 5 to mount the tire.

Updates since last fall.

I have my stainless WM3 X 19 rims and spokes installed with Avon Road Riders. I also addes a polished SS hub cover.

While the wheels were apart I turned the fins off the rear drum, polished it and clear coated it.

The wheels turned out really nice, and have excellent road manors.

I found a really nice set of gauges, both needed new bezels. Installed new bezels and glass.

Been collecting parts for an Interstate bodywork set to switch between. Have tank and sidecovers. Still need to find a seat and tail light fairing.

The interstate is going to be a dark blue with silver striping and lettering.

I'm contimplating striping the bike down and doing all the black parts in a silver. After I got it together I saw some pictures of a silver framed bike

and now I can't stand my black frame. The silver looks really smart with the blue tanks.

f the weather ever clears up I need to get it out for some updated photos. Here are the last ones I took from last fall.
