I have scrapped this project.
Yeah, it sounded like a bring out your dead project from the get go to me. That said I don't like working that hard. My hat's off to you for even trying.
I have scrapped this project.
I know how you feel ( I think ) - I have a 1956 Model 99 in large lumps - mostly complete but stuff like broken fins and some foolishly drilled holes in frame . But the big obstacle is do I spend the money - I am mostly retired now so I need to be more conservative. And it is my last restoration project.
At least a Dommi 99 is worth a lot more than an AJS 600 twin. Still for me I will not be starting anymore projects. I am completely retired as of 2020. Rebuilding and selling ESS amt speakers these days.I know how you feel ( I think ) - I have a 1956 Model 99 in large lumps - mostly complete but stuff like broken fins and some foolishly drilled holes in frame . Saw the j geils band at WembleyWow. There's a name I hadn't heard in a while; didn't realize they were still around. Destroyed the Heil driver in one of mine back in the 70's while listening to J. Geils Band's "Whammer Jammer".
You need to put this in the classified section, but you will need to come up with a price first.I've got a 59 AJS, Model 31, 650. It is in near perfect condition, but was last ridden about 2 years ago. I have stored it under a cover in a corner of my workshop since then.
I would like to get rid of it to a good owner. No Idea of its value, but I will take a fair price. I'm in upstate SC.
Anyone interested? Or should I put it on Ebay?

I prefer the 70s-80s great Heil models made in Sacramento.
It won't lastGot rid of this AJS model 30 project today. I’m trying hard to resist any additional restoration projects. Saw a ‘70 Triumph T100C basket case for $150 and let it go to someone else. So far so good.
That is strength ! Please don’t tell me it was complete …Got rid of this AJS model 30 project today. I’m trying hard to resist any additional restoration projects. Saw a ‘70 Triumph T100C basket case for $150 and let it go to someone else. So far so good.
Nope, likely another frozen engine and very rusty. The guy that bought it for $150 had it on Craigslist the next day at $1150.That is strength ! Please don’t tell me it was complete …
Yes I know……It won't last
