one for the knowledgeable here :- does Loctite actually go off with age, I've been using the same bottle of high strength 601 for over 25 years with no loss of performance that I can can tell ?

My 20 yr old " studlock " bottle still works well
:RHD

Expiry dates on Loctite are comparatively recent ? I had a bottle from I think 1976 that had no expiry date.

From Google, LOCTITE Threadlockers work on anaerobic technology that hardens in the absence of air and presence of metal ions. So, when LOCTITE threadlockers are used on bolt and the nut is tightened, the liquid spread covering all the microscopic gap between the nuts and bolts and unitize them against loosening.

My red always works after years. But my blue "seemed" to stop working. It might have been my problem, not shaking before each use

I store all my Loctite in the fridge after use has never gone off, also any silicone tubes that have been opened, won't dry up hard and same with glues all kept in the fridge once opened.

I bought a 1/3 Oz bottle of Blue Loctite this morning without asking the price. At check out it was $20 and the Aero Kroil was $30. Arrgh!

That's cheap compared to what we pay here in Aus, high wages and high prices and big profits for the greedy, glad my Norton and Thruxton are both very reliable bikes and the Norton is well sorted and has been most of its life since new.

Right next to the Butter and Eggs??

Yeah the workshop beer/dog food/glue, silicon, loctite fridge, but lately the cost to fill the beer fridge has gone through the roof with tax increase on our beloved drinks so it's a bit bare of drinks and still waiting for the mates who owe me a few beers to fill it, but won't be holding my breath on that one lol.
As for the butter and eggs all food up in the house fridge where it all belongs, the cook looks after all that lol.

The bottom line is less greedy manufacturers and grasping unions and more inflation caused by politicians who
simply spend without a care and print money with abandon.
I remember when I used to blame the citizens who vote them in but that was back when I believed that who got voted in
mattered. Inflation is the perfect stealth weapon: your tax bracket goes up, your savings value goes down and nobody voted
on that at all.

...three parties all of which think only of spending more money than they have.
Your money by the way.

Your starting to sound like an American! Oh we only have two parties the are out of control!

If you want to know where our current bullshit began - it was here, and I suggest it is not reversible. - 'The Consitution Of Liberty' is a justification of cynicism. I bought the book.:
