fork tube removal

Hello - I'm trying to remove my fork tubes/stantions from the lower fork legs but seems impossible. I can slide them up and down easily and yank on them but they just bounce back from the inner spring. How in the heck do I get them out? I assume I have to remove the top front fork bushing (#9...
