The Germans had a saying during WW2
" We don't have to waste bullets on the Canadians, just give them a motorcycle and a bottle of wine"

My riding teacher joined the Canadian Army in 1939, even though he was American. He always said he didn't join up to fight Nazis, it was to get away from his wife!

Worked with a former WWII dispatch rider for years , he was a very good man , although he didn’t think much of my Honda xl500 I rode to work on .... he told me he liked being a moving target plus being able to make his own decisions to save himself ... also mentioned he really liked the French Ladies , another Veteran I worked with that landed at Juno Beach on D-Day discribed his war time experience this way “ they took us over in a leaky boat , made us swim/wade ashore while folks were shooting at us , then after all that ,they made us walk to Italy” .... that is all he would ever say ‘bout his War ....

Ahhhhh, did he marry an ugly one?
Don't know what she looked like when she was young, but her niece was a Playboy centerfold (Barbara Crawford, look it up) and they ended up with 6 kids, none of which were born before the war.
