Alan, Absolutely gorgeous. Thinking of painting my 2002 Ranger that color.

how this look? swapped bars this afternoon...….perfect transition IMHO..i cut 1 1/2 inch off ends of chrome ones...I kinda like narrower bars ..the renthals give the Yamaha a decidedly sporting look. the chrome ones make the Norton paint "POP" thanks eddie and you other fellers for the opinions

thanks .. now if we could only get some warm sunny days here in NC so I can ride it worst weather in 100 years cold rain most every weekend since October

Alan you’ve just improved both bikes in one go!

The Nort def looks even more stunning than before. That paint really is awesome Alan (and from an Englishman, that means ‘awesome’ rather than simply being a confirmation of your burger order... )!

FWIW Alan, I’d advise playing around with the handle bars a bit more.

I’m a bit of a fuss pot Alan, but I find it worth spending a bit of time early on after a build like this playing with different handle bar positions. I have Norton US bars on one bike (a Triumph... does that make it a Triton!?) and I ended up pulling them further back than I expected, but the riding position is great now.

Dommie Nator:

Nice. I like the wheel size - 18in front and rear? What is the shiney part in pic 2, near the oil filter?

-Knut
Knut, Its the right foot of the center stand isn't it?

Cheers,

cliffa.

Reg Curley tank?

Nice.
No it is a selfmade one by my dad in the seventies based on a Dunstall item. This one has more fuel capacity so that he could travel more easy through europe.. Had to open it a few years ago to clean it out and fibreglass it back together. Have it coated with an epoxy sealer now also.

Your scooter is gorgeous. You've put untold hours of work & love into achieving the outcome. My patience would have expired long before getting to that point.
Just uncrated, had the frontend installed, & polished up....Like the last new one I saw. Great job.

It'll make a nice wall clock for the garage !

I bought some "Semi-Western" bars from A-N, but I'm sure they aren't as high as those (I was dissapointed so never fitted them).

here's a few facts about the paint job....new emgo tank needed 'skimming' on top with body filler due to grind marks from manufacturing process..then tank got 2 coats primer with sanding after each coat ..then coat of sealer with sanding...then 3 coats ford ruby red metallic base coat with sanding between each coat...then 2 coats of ruby red tinted candy clear with sanding between coats..then decals were applied..the 2 more coats of clear clear with sanding between each coat then final buffing...job was done by Reflections Paint in Iron Station NC they restore 60s and early 70s Jags and American classic cars but do the occasional bike ... cost was $800 (whew) paint and materials was $300 of that total.. gotta wait til next month for disc cant ride anyway lousy weather........
