Since May this year HD do not produce the livewire, livewire, a separate company does. Why HD spun it off as a separate company is a mystery.....

I think the reason was two fold. HD realized that the allure of an electric bike transcends the HD classic mystique. Typical Harley buyers were unimpressed and disinterested. However, the future will be forced electric, so HD created a non-HD traditional brand, like Zero, and others. The new brand has none of the image baggage that the HD brand has for younger (non baby-boomer) perspective e-bike buyers.

It's all about re-positioning the brand for a new generation, who are not interested in the least with HD heritage.

I am a little surprised they are making this their main mission. The commando I believe should have been the main focus and perhaps one of the scramblers

It's probably the easiest to re-engineer and get out the door into customers hands.
Also, it's a modern, multi-cylinder, powerful, super bike, which is probably more marketable to younger buyers than a scrambler, or air cooler Commando.

It's a worthy flagship if they get it right, IMHO. It may even be a: 'loss leader', but if it ends up doing what it says on the tin, then that must have a positive knock on effect for everything that comes after...

Has anyone taken delivery of a 961 CLASSIC yet?????????
Dont think any have left the factory. They did a fake photo for social media of them delivering one to the museum, but that went back to the factory afterwards.

That’s an old video is t it? I think it pre dates the news about all the faults on the V4 etc. May or may not still be relevant.

I'd say the goal posts have most certainly been moved for them. It was extremely ambitious to think they could turn it around so soon.

The 'Classic' (all the original problems?) number one raffle prize very kindly donated by NewNorton has been sitting in the National motorcycle museum for quite a little while now. There are a number of machines sitting in the factory which have been produced to fulfil existing customer orders but a short while a ago these were not being released while they investigated quality issues. Bear in mind that they have a number of machines on test in different environments so it would make sense if they have identified problems on these test machines.

As an single example of what I see as real positive sign is an acknowledgement of issues with the rockers where bushes binding onto the shafts. I can't imagine OldnewNorton would have admitted to that whether they believed there to be a problem or not.

From what I understand TVS was under the impression that there were a number of models all ready to fly off the production lines. They got a report done on the state of the V4 and are in the process of what they call 'reverse engineering' the model....

No Superlight. No naked V4 Combat. Nothing supercharged. What HAVE they been doing…?!

What HAVE they been doing…?!
Spending a lot of money, last full year accounts show a loss of £10.3m

It is currently well funded with £37M share capital issued but haemorrhaging cash.

Yes clearly spending but on what? The overhead is that high?

Maybe designing official Norton ware like watches, sorry, I mean Time Pieces, leather jackets, boots, etc.
They might have decided to go the HD route and just merchandise the brand.

But will the Norton watch (timepiece) be faster than the HD equivalent? And can we make it louder??
(And let's hope it doesn't need batteries... I can hear the debates now :) )

I recon they are staying schtum until motorcycle live in December.
