What’s the best none Norton Norton ?

Wow , That is a glowing report . I have only sat on some these models : Low Rider S , Fat Bob and Sport Glide . Of these 3 , I thought the seating , pegs , and bars of the Sport Glide fit me best . Realizing this bike would be used for cruising and touring so comfort is top of list for me.
The Sport Glide is a brilliant touring bike Tony. Just take the HD aspect out of it and view it as a brilliant allrounder tourer and it ticks all the boxes IMHO.

Ok, the proper touring HDs will be roomier, equipped with more tech, etc. But they’re a lot heavier too.

Dyna LRS and Sport Glide:
Note my LRS has Leatherman panniers which are great.

Also a highly recommended Saddlemen SDC seat which is supposed to be the dogs bollox. Well, they lied, my arse was on fire at the end of each day!

My mate put a Sundowner seat on his SG and I simply could not believe how comfy it was / how stupid mine was! I haven’t decided what to buy instead yet, but the saddlemen seat will be on eBay soon !

Summary: The LRS is much more fun, much more ’hot rod’. The SG is much more comfortable and a far superior cruising and touring machine.

(And before someone says it… NO I’m not carrying a life ring on the back of the bike…)

Sundowner is Harley OEM option catalog seat correct ?

Funny you should say that but when I'm out on mine listening to the mechanical thrashing ( to put it mildly) I think to myself if this engine blows what could I put in it's place? Two things influence me, (1) - Yamaha have had a long standing relationship with Norton, so I have no aversion to fitting Yamaha parts. (2) - it must really be a twin. XS650 too old I suppose, so TDM 850, 900 or TRX are top of my list. I'm going to start another thread on this I think...
Ive got a TRX850, that I bought off one of the design engineers at Norton around 2017, after he had a nasty highside on it. I built it back up as a bitsa build, obviously with a spattering of Norton 961 parts, headlamp, domi racer clock mount for example, just a few bits and bobs. Its awesome to ride, and really does feel like a nicely sorted 961. They even share the same Yamaha clutch plate part numbers haha

Yes it does , seller is on here , “Gatsby” , he is brilliant with the Nortons in his care …. Plus he a very nice fellow to make a deal with , salt of the earth !

Nigel I’m betting this it , believe I posted this opinion on here (or was it the Griso ) couple of whiles ago …. Should be in my shed in a couple of wks , big thanks to Gatsby !View attachment 80912View attachment 80913View attachment 80914
Yeah, nice duck.
I had the pimped up version for a bit (Paul Smart Replica) but it was too pimpy for me and def the most uncomfortable bike I’ve ever owned.
I sold it on quite quickly… and before the prices rocketed !!
Yours has all the qualities of the PSR without the negatives.
Good choice !

Remove this if it’s out of lines here.
just installed an Arrow pro race exhaust on my 2020 Diavel 1260s.
Only took 23 weeks to receive it lol.

Covid parts on order lol. Ordered some ohlins. Won’t be in stock again until October. Still waiting on the exhaust.
Where’s the Ohlins going, front or rear ?

I put longer Ohlins on the rear of my Dyna S and they’re great! The thing was way too low as stock, then of course there’s the infinitely superior performance. Haven’t done the forks as they seem quite good, for my riding at least.

You‘re a bad man. Got me looking at 117” kits again…!

I'm hoping this will be produced in mass numbers eventually. The only fully balanced large capacity 360° parallel twin in the world and made by a tiny crew as their passion. Looks like a proper bike !

Let's define what kind of bike the Norton Commando is (or was) - I mean which market segment it filled - and I *may* tell you its proper heir.

Nice bike. I wonder what the price tag is - 150K USD?
Not a twin, but equally situated in the luxury bike segment and probably just as smooth is the Horex VR6. It's price tag is a "mere" 38.500 Euro upwards for the classic line model. Of course there are more expensive versions, including cafe racers.
