New Norton facilities in Solihull

While the long term or even current supply of spares seems sketchy it Looks like Ollie in Germany is doing a sterling job not only of stocking spares but commissioning new improved spares and designing upgrades. The more business we put his way the more he will do for us to keep our bikes on the road!

Couldn’t agree more.

But in order for that to happen Ollie has got to drastically improve his marketing and communications. People need to know what he has to offer before they can decide to buy.

It’s a serious point Ollie...

Agree, I've communicated with Ollie.....bought some bits and he says 'oh, do you need anything else? I have quite a lot of stuff'. I didn't know, so bought some other bits from him as well. As far as communications are concerned, once you have placed your order, top notch, well packet etc. Now I know, I'll just ask if he has what I'm after.

as far as approval of the 40 bikes is concerned, there is always the MSVA route?
Would this be an option? I think it might....
CCM had an inspector on site checking and approving each bike post build completion, I believe ongoing.
Ref. spares.....still waiting for a reply, Tech Query came back with a choice of 3 depts, Service, Parts and Warranty.

I'm sure they must be... but perhaps only for those 40?????

Yes you are right, dropping a mail with the parts you need is for free.
Ollie have no problems with stupid companies which only looking was he does.
I know that the Coote´s and Ollie in the past had lot of trouble for this .
In Germany we say "don´t wake a sleeping dog"

I have just spent 30 minutes on each of the new Norton 0121 numbers being told that my call is important before I gave up.

At least under the previous regime you could actually talk to someone.

The web site still has the old phone numbers on it. Last time I looked there were still no Norton signage up at the factory. I'm sensing some disorganisation here and getting a little bit uneasy about this new setup. When a somewhat discredited company is bought out the first thing you normally want to do is to go on a 'under new management we're going to make everything better' charm offensive.

Clive, don't you live close to the new site? worth popping there?

Can't work out how to get in! It's not like a normal factory/ headquarters with a reception and a smiley receptionist called Sue. It is a big shed with high fencing around it and no signs either on the buildings, fencing or signs on the business park. I'm sure I have seen tigers wandering about in the grounds......

I know Sue. Game gal.

The Sue who used to be on reception?
Shame - I miss Sue who used to be on reception- she was lovely. She even gave me a lift all the way to Derby station after dropping off my bike once.

I might try the factory tonight as I finish early - discovered my throttle cable only had a couple of strands left.......

Now if I had an atlas I could have a go at the fence (cue Great Escape music).

Finally got through to Norton. They have had some problems with the new phone system and new 0121 numbers. Our overseas cousins might be surprised that something as simple as a local PABX is difficult to get working but you have to remember that in the United Kingdom of Engle Land most businesses still rely on owls for communication....

Apparently my Norton must remain off the road for the want of a throttle cable. John in parts will see if anyone knows if I can buy an oem part from somewhere else. Also waiting on a call from Krazy Horse.......

Take it off, measure it up, and call Venhill. You’ll probably have it by the end of the week.

A cable is a cable. There’s nothing magically ‘Norton’ about it !

Ta Nigel - I've not had to replace one before. I notice that the position/direction of the ferrules at the body cause the cable to rub against them so I could do with a bit of bracket bending....
