What’s the best none Norton Norton ?

Nice , The E scooters use the motor in the front wheel and they are coming out yearly with upgrades , more range , more speed , more torque . It all makes sense .

I learned to ride a scooter as a ten year old ... now would rather pedal a bike , if I can’t use use my beloved ICE driven machines , old enough now that prolly won’t get to choose anyways ..... I sure did love that re-branded ’63 Vespa though at the time .....

Eriks latest venture....

Harley has finally released the Revolution Max engine and adventure bike . I like this feature :

As you’d expect, Harley-Davidson used hydraulic valve lash adjusters, so you won’t have to tweak the tappets every 10,000 miles. The 1250 has roller-finger valve actuation; the valves and valve actuators are in constant contact as the engine’s heat changes, which reduces valve train noise and puts consistent pressure on the valve stem. In turn, that “facilitates more-aggressive camshaft profiles which can boost performance.

On the subject of Harley's, decided to SORN the CCM on Sunday and resurrected the Sportster ready for Easter. Just back from a post MoT test ride and although frozen to the bone, smiling like a Cheshire cat. By they vibrate, have a gearbox that has a mind of its own and the way mines trimmed, fall short on the comfort front but, long live the internal combustion engine!

Just came in after starting Jeep to warm for trip up over Mt.Thom to see Dr. in New Glasgow ... feels like -25C , wish it ride weather !

Wishing you a good trip , safe home! Only just hovering above freezing here, thermal undie weather.

Very, very nice indeed! But is it worth a divorce and the possible loss of my testicles?!
Well, looking at the seat yer nadgers aint going to last long anyway and more time to ride!

Nice build but the engine just does not look as good as a 961 and the red rocker cover??

Agreed, that rocker cover would be the first thing to go, second would be the blue and red hose elbows. the rest I could live with o_O

You can appreciate the work that was done on this custom, by looking at what the builder started with.
Well done.

Forgive me if it's already been mentioned, but I just read a review of the new Tuono 660. Looks good to me. Listed at around $10,500.

May be wrong, but I thought in the US, the US DOT banned carbon fibre wheels on production motorcycles.
If you ordered an SE with CF wheels, the bike was delivered to the dealer with wire wheels, and the CF wheels were shipped separately.
That way the DOT regs were not violated.

Never heard of such a thing. My car came stock with carbon fiber wheels factory fitted.
I know it’s not a motorcycle but still makes no sense.

This was the bike I had , but in Black and Red , a 1996 Trident .
I had the silver & blue version. Bought 'new' in 2000, but a '96 bike. It went well enough but burnt as much petrol as my then Subaru Forester (~32mpg). It bust its camchain at 75000, wasnt -too- sorry to see the back of it, the thing cost a fortune to run. But it certainly got going at 6000revs...

The winner of the best non norton is.......

So I wonder how many bikers/ ex bikers/ wannabe bikers/track marshals would come up to you in the supermarket carpark/ track pits/ driveway and tell you it was the best looking bike they had ever seen. And how much better would I feel riding it along the local 40mph bypass? Admittedly the potential for willy-waving at the local biker pub is pretty massive.....

Maybe I should go off on a rant now about how tv shows were better in black and white and this terrible rock and roll music will never catch on....

The winner of the best non norton is.......

That looks like an awesome machine.

But...

When I asked the question ‘what is the best none Norton Norton?’ what I was trying to find was a bike that exhibited similar characteristics, similar joys of ownership, similar providers of the ‘feel good factor’ that a Norton definitely provides, however difficult it is to articulate !

Personally, however good the KTM is, it doesn’t seem to tick many of the Norton-esque factors.
