My 1968 Atlas tank is being repainted the original Flamboyant green metallic. Were the 2 decals on top of the tank applied over the paint or was there clear-coat applied over the decals?
I belong to the local AMCA Omaha Chapter, and when the bikes are judged, points are deducted for zip ties and other no original items, however minute. There are also categories for Original and Restored, so not sure which one this bike would fall into now with the tank repainted. My son works in the auto body industry and tried to wet sand the back paint down to the original gel coat but no luck doing that. It was worth a shot.I have to laugh at award winning concours restaurations with modern clear coat paint and plastic wire ties. Neither bothers me, but the way people can use both in an "original" restauration cracks me up.

Just as a point of interest, how are modern upgrades such as LED lighting judged?
Not that I intend to enter my Atlas in a concours expo.
I know I have gotten off topic, but I reckon Kommando has fully dispatched the OP's question.
