The latest task is an alloy fuel tank for the lightweight 920 Commando project.
I purchased a Thruxton R fairing for the project as they are such a beautifully shaped item. The problem with that is they are not at all universal. Most fairings just kind of terminate mid space but the Thruxton fairing flows right into the curvature of the fuel tank.
So it is necessary to make the fuel tank to the same profile as the Thruxton R tank, at least where the fairing ties in.
This is OK as it is a lovely little tank, can't think of a more pleasing shape.
It is a bit small at 14.5 litres, so I'll expand it some ( Interstate) and add a bit of Roadster shape as well. Could be a real Dog's breakfast!
We'll see.
Started by taking shapes from the Thruxton tank and building a buck to that, with some expansion included. I'm looking for 17 litres or so, about 175 mile range.
