jus’ wonderin’ if anyone had heard any updates on the 650 situation?

Last I read, production was supposed to commence late Sept... has it?

Did SG get his £5m? Is the factory up n’ running?

Norton tend to publish their updates via via faceache and twatter, neither of which I partake in...

Thanks Rich. Those article just fuel the need to know more though...

That first article is the one where SG says he’s looking for £5m investment... in a company that made £33,701 pre tax profit last year...

I can’t see a date in the second article, in which SG says they’ll be in the new factory ‘in 5 - 6 weeks’ but some of the comments are 144 days old...

You can’t help thinking how SG would get on in the “Dragons Den” I can see them saying
“So you want £5,000,000 of my children’s inheritance in a company that made £36k in year 8,& your going try sell 1000 bikes to the Japanese ?” ??
Still however ,SG manages it all somehow, each time I’ve been to factory something has been updated & scrubbed up.
I’m sure norton will run like a well oiled machine .

Certainly seems to be some turbulence at the factory right now. I've had a bit of an issue with them recently which I'm hoping to fix soon.

Hope they can weather this storm.

If I understand correctly (I’d be delighted to be wrong), Max, Ray and even Paul who looked after my 961 in the workshop have all left or are leaving. I don’t have any contacts there to contact any more...

650 update ??

Recently and discussed the finance, did anyone attend

Seems like it was about exporting in general and nothing to do with NMUK, other than the location, factory tour and the presenter. Why take on championing exporting when there are bikes to be built, which is core business - surely he can wield a spanner and get stuck in.

Add Ash, Rob, Clem, Olivia....

Indeed, I simply meant ‘recently’...
Nigel
Depends what you call recent - all within the last 12 months and Ash within the last month!
Are you saying Max (warranty manager) is leaving?
John

Edit: Not trying to divert your thread - just an indication of the turbulence at Norton HQ, probably indicative of why the 650 is nowhere to be seen (or the superlight for that matter)

Yes, Max, Ray, Paul all within recent couple of weeks. And all on top of the previous leavers you mention.

A couple of new names, we have Marie in the sales/service area, I believe she is admin and not a technician, but a young man did introduce himself at the last bike night I went to as a trainee in the service area but I didn't catch his name. We also have Carmen in warranty/technical, she handled my purchase of a new fly screen and is also dealing with a warranty claim at the moment.

I guess that explains my troubles in getting a response from Max the last month or so.

All true Mark, but as a trainee I would say he is overwhelmed - when my bike was at Norton, there were about 12-14 other bikes in various stages of dismantling waiting for service/warranty work with said trainee plus Ash. They are recruiting, according to their website, but I think they need another couple of experienced techs to add capacity.
Funding wise, things are not looking Rosie....
