That’s all Folks 2

Hmmm, on each of my last 2 rides (200 - 300 miles each) I have about a 1 second random loss of power. I didn’t look at the clocks but it was like the kill switch had been flicked off and then on, then all ok for the rest of the ride. Not quite in eljahara’s league but does put a little doubt out there.

Change the Tip Over sensor now ! That's how they feel when going bad ! Look for my resistor cheat to troubleshoot it while you order in the new one.

Spoke to Max this afternoon about a 961 problem.
The people that are left have to work harder!

This is the 2010 Streetfighter from HD, ridiculous name, but the bike shows promise.
Motor is 4 valve, DOHC 990cc, 120 HP.
Kinda has that Buell look.

Might test ride one next spring.

If only HD would make friends with Eric Buell again eh?!

Buell now has EBR, he has no use for HD anymore.
But the Streetfighter (God I hate that name) looks like Harley is finally getting the message about what young riders want.
Sportbike chassis, with a high performance engine.

It is like waiting for grass to grow ! If the New models didn't take so long Norton might have a go at this. Especially if the bikes are good ! I wonder if Max still works there , does anybody know ?
Yes he does,I’ve just gotten round to ordering my front sprocket & chain & few other small things, they took card payment, promised a confirmation call tomorrow that’s it’s in the post.

I thought EBR was no more...

Frankly, you should all just keep you 961s. I've done my share of bitching and moaning for the past 6 years, but I still have mine. And thanks to FE...I had a great ride. A few hiccups (starter spun first push, didn't start. Stalled second push, third time was a charm. Always right after I fuel up.) but great.

What did Norton say was wrong with your bike ?
Waiting for feedback from Max, he contacted me yesterday to assure me he was on the case but also said they were finding it difficult to identify the fault

Update:
Max contacted me today:

Spoke to the technician; the ecu was replaced . It was diagnosed to be at fault ; the original problem got worse up to the point of the motorcycle not starting. Sensors were tested all to be within spec. The ecu was then swapped from another working bike and the problem transferred .

So looks like the issue has been identified and resolved, I will contact Max tomorrow to discuss.

I’m guessing that if everything cut out as you describe, then so did the lights?

If that’s the case, imagine it happening at night... on an unlit road... strewth...!

And, they’ve had it since 23rd July, really? Well that’s also very concerning. I hope I’m wrong, but that makes me think they don’t know / can’t find out what it is, which would worry me even more...
Hi Nigel,
Yes lights too, I left it at side of road for 10 mins while waiting for Police and turned key off/on, electrics came back on.
The cut out issue has only been since 12th August when I collected it. They had it from 23 July to investigate other issues - guess it looks like they might have all been related.

GOOD. GOING TO KEEP IT???? Ride it for a few hundred miles, then decide.

Nope
I have not had it for 5 weeks or so and haven’t really missed it - true I have been putting some miles on a new bike which has helped but I don’t trust it not to go wrong
I may go back to my original thought of looking for a Mk3 Commando, time will tell.
