Not a bad looking XR 1200 hey ?

Thought of buying one several times, but they are pretty heavy, and that's a consideration for me now.

Mine is too heavy for me now. I have a fast orange one. Looking to sell sometime because I just can't manhandle it out of the garage. Once on the road it is very nice. Handles well and 135mph! There is an XR1200 owners forum but everybody is really into mods there.
Good luck with it. Mine has been stone reliable.

I've seen an orange one two years ago that had a stock pannier set that looked like it would have been great for the 961. Bet that's a difficult item to find.

The stock XR1200 saddlebags don't seem to hold up well. About half the used ones I've seen for sale have something wrong with them.

This one wasn't broken, however they rods seemed to be a bit of a thin gauge metal. Mounted under the rear cowl seemed pretty tidy though.

Over the next several months I am going to get it ready for some touring . Windshield , hard bags and better seat and maybe highway pegs .

I will go for the Hepco and Becker "C Bow" frames and hard bags .

Nice.

Something tells me the 961 will accrue less mileage henceforth...

Maybe so , but I will continue my quest the best I can (high mileage Norton) . Like for example , If I go to New York INOA rally , it will be on the Norton . I know what I am capable of and what the 961 is capable of. I plan to carry on here on Access Norton . Don't worry folks , I am not going Harley crazy OK ? The XR attraction has been with me for a long time , it is not a perfect bike either it needs me too.

The same can be said for you too FE ! Like when you finally get the Superlight 650 !

Well that’s true Tony and I suppose is partly why I posted the comment! Actually it’s not the SL that’s my issue, I too have another bike arriving soon that essentially fills the same genre as the 961 does for me, so I’m already struggling with the notion of how to ride two similar bikes, and that my 961 will accrue even less miles than I’ve managed so far !
