BSB brands Hatch 2019 how to knock your teammate out

Thank you for correcting my mistake- I don’t know where my head was that day!

What was the outcome of this chaps? Was he guilty of foul play or was it ‘just racimg’?

I think he was given a 10 second penalty which took him back a place.

A 10 second penalty is strange isn’t it?

If he was guilty of a deliberate act (which I’m really not convinced he was) then he should have been given a far more serious penalty.

However, if he was innocent of a deliberate act, he shouldn’t have got any penalty.

A 10 second slap on the wrist is neither here nor there !

It the non-aggression principle. The guy who got to the spot of real estate first owns it and the guy who comes ramming in to try to take it later is the aggressor. Contact from behind appears to have happened. DQ

They were side by side. According Jamie Whitham who was commentating (a top lad BTW) the guy on the inside was literally on the edge of the track and had to stand the bike up a tad to correct his line and stay on the tarmac.

The other way of looking at it is that he stood the bike up deliberately to knock his team mate off line.

Doesn’t look like it was contact from the rear, more like classic banging of fairings which is the kinda thing that happens every single lap, just usually with less dramatic consequences!

We agree. I watched it and heard the play by play. Unfortunate that there was no camera angle showing exactly what contact, if any, occurred. Putting a wheel inside AND off the track AND with the result that the leader appeared to be jostled and then went down by a front wheel low side says that that the move was too aggressive.

I too watched the drama unfolding on TV, in slow motion, I thought he got off lightly, he should have been disqualified for dangerous riding, at the very least!
