New 650 Twin

Nice.

Be interesting to see how well it goes around Malory Ralph...!

Ha that may never happen, I see it more as the bike to get you to Mallory and back rather than round and round. I bet it would feel good round there though but it would need more power.

Had to move a couple of things around today and whilst doing that it struck me how well the Interceptor fits in with some of the other older bikes I have.

I was on RE's website. It indicates that panniers are coming which I would like. Going to book a test ride at the dealer up in Ft. Worth.

I was up in Ft. Worth today and decided to stop by and take a look at the new 650's. They don't have any yet but expect them on Friday.
Fortunately it wasn't to far out of my way. I will give them a go later next week.

Hmm, I may have lost mine, the wife took it out the other day and was still smiling two days later.

You should be wondrin what she got up to whilst she was out that’s making her smile Ralph...!

Here you go Nigel, I don't think they look quite right but they sound good. :) If she likes them I will make some better brackets and get some proper clamps.

Is it just me, or does the bike - especially the motor- look a bit like an old Benelli twin with the "short" cylinders coming up out of the cases.

I suppose it does a bit, maybe not a bad thing though.

I think the bike looks really nice. If the wife likes it then you'd best go ahead and get one for yourself because the claim has been staked. It's got nice compact lines to it.

Nah, I have plenty of bikes and if I feel the need she would lend me the bike, she is good like that.:)

There was a huge motorbike show here today where you could test ride many new machines, did a test ride of approx 30minutes on a new Intercepor (and some other bikes too), and I was pleasantly surprised how easy this bike is to live with. Gearchange worked a threat and handling was good, and the brakes were better than the brakes on the bikes that I use to ride. I would have prefered the exhaust noise a bit louder, It 's been a fairlly long time since I rode a "modern" motorcycle, but I can say I realy loved this Enfield. Would I buy one? not sure, since I am running out of storage space, or another bike has to go, decissions, decissions.

Interesting proposition for those without the mechanical fortitude or with a dodgy knee/back and interested in a Norton Commando. Doesn’t quite have the beauty of a Commando in my opinion, but not too bad and it does come with all the upgrades we normally install or lust after on a Commando -270deg crank, electric start, decent brakes, six speed gearbox etc.....

For not much difference than the cost of those upgrade parts you could purchase one of these new Royal Enfield 650’s.
They look a lot better stripped back with a few mods like in the video below. Guy draws on some similarities to the original Commandos as well. I’ll let you decide.

I took an interceptor for a 300 km ride around the great ocean road in Victoria Australia with Nevermind motorcycle bike had about 900km on it at the start and I was very impressed there were some hymalayan's and a 650gt as well that had aftermarket pipes and sounded sweet as, my wife was on a lowered Himalayan I was starting to do sell the 961 sums by the time I came back, my garage needs one of these bikes

I just put down a deposit on an Interceptor, going to pick it up on Tuesday. Figure I will book my 300 mile service for later in the week, if it even takes me that long to get there.
