Let’s talk retro style helmets

I wear this helmet with the mirror visor (non-CF version) daily most times. I like it a lot but the visor scratches the helmet when open and closing. Not the quietest but very comfortable. I have to wear earplugs with the shorties and on a domi with megaphones there is no earplugs that are good enough. Lol.
Lol. You’re right. It is loud on my Dominator lol.

I’ve been using a DMD open face helmet for the last few years, reasonably priced and nice profile but have just upgraded to Davida Speedster v3. As previously mentioned the fit is snug you even have to pull the shell open a little to get it on but once on it feels comfortable and doesn’t move at higher speeds. I had to go for matt black same as DMD so the wife doesn’t notice!

Scott,
Stick with the Davida, it is cheaper AND meets modern safety requirements!
The Lewis is not intended for use on a motorcycle - says so in their advert.
John
Thank you.
I kinda assumed the Davida was superior.

What riding gloves do you guys like?

I have a pair or Schott leather riding gloves that are non lined and non heated.
Even in winter I prefer non lined gloves. I don’t like thick gloves as I prefer the thinner gloves because of the feel and lack of bulk.

I went for the Shoei J.O. as it was good value, not too snug so could still hear things and has a drop down tinted visor built in. I've got some old school goggles as well, so covers sunshine and dark. I'd recommend.

It's the Shoei JO that I went for as well. My internal visor is non-tinted though, but I keep a pair of photochromic Bobster goggles attached for when the sun comes out or it rains cats n'dogs.

On the glove department i've too many to list. I go to my glove drawer and select for the ride. My favourite are probably a pair of 30 year old unlined skin tight H-D gloves but no protection, non waterproof, and strictly for the Summer months.

I am totally into the retro rocker style - Lewis Leather boots with cream sock top, Goldtop 617 jacket with chequered silk scarf, Goldtop gauntlets - and I commute like this to work on my CR as often as the UK weather allows. I love my old Davida Jet helmet with modified Climax 510 goggles for a Sunday pose but I have to make compromises for comfort on my commute;

When I'm down on the clip-ons a full face helmet stops me turning my head fully round to look behind me.
I now should be wearing my glasses for riding as I don't want to miss anything happening ahead of me and even some John Lennon ones don't fit the goggles well. I got some glazed with prescription inserts but these aren't great.

My current helmet of choice is the Schuberth M1;

It is open face style but with side cheeks to offer a bit of extra protection.
The flip-down clear visor is really easy to use especially over glasses and looks a bit retro.
It has a flip-down sun visor which works well.
Clip the Bluetooth module in and it's pre-wired so you get music, intercom, phone calls (even on the Norton), satnav messages.

Stick some graphics on (yes I know....) and it's a great almost retro lid.

I’d like to see a picture of your riding gear if you have one available. Sounds great!
