The Lambda Delete Thread

that's how I check the fueling of race cars and race go-carts !
Finally got the bike out, after 30minutes cut engine and coasted to a stop (did not close throttle). Plugs were not fuelled up, if anything looked very slightly lean, ECU may be in the process of resetting itself so will try again after a good while. From that I don't think from the above that removing the sensors will cause any damage. By the way bike has decat pipe and shorties with remap.

Do you know what map you are running ?

Just got back from a 40mile test ride. Through pipe and those resistance plugs. Bike had a roughly idle. The bike was cool when starting and I had the tank off. So could be why. Since its been warm ive started three times. Everything is perfect as far as I can tell. I’ll post again in a week or so or after a few more hundred miles. Learned that the cat pipe is an H pipe. And the new through pipe is not.

Started the bike from cold and went for another ride. Perfect. And from before the catless pipe and plugs I would get the occasional backfire on deceleration. So far all gone. Great mid range now. Just excellent. Cant say enough. If the bikes ran like this from factory they would have any left in any showrooms. But yeah yeah i know. Euro 4. But at least with a little effort it can be done after initial purchase.

Hello Richard , How is the flat spot you had ? When you get a chance please get us a plug check and a MPG check ? This may be everything we've been hoping for ! Please text me the plug color image . Thank You.

Hi Rich,
Your increased mid range is surely down to the de cat.
The 02 eliminators only effect low rpm running don’t they?
I just want to clarify for other readers, otherwise 02 delete might be seen as the panacea for all evils!

My plugs/bolts are way smaller than M12x1.25 or am I missing something

The Norton 961 O2 sensors thread in to the header pipe with a M12 x1.25 thread. At least the one on my 2014.

Hi Richard. How did you install those plugs ? I mean, where did you plug them in ?

Are you referring to the resistor O2 eliminator plugs ? You must follow the O2 sensor leads up under the fuel tank . Under there you will find where they plug into the harness . Unplug the O2 sensors and put the resistor plugs in their place . If you are referring to the threaded blanking plugs , those plug the hole left when you remove the O2 sensor from the exhaust pipes .

They also effect steady state throttle openings . Say if you are thrumming along at 3800 rpm in top gently cruising . Like where he had his flat spot.

Yes, good point Tony.

I can’t quite work out in my own mind how critical that is to performance though, because by definition, when you accelerate, you’re no longer in a steady state throttle opening.

Maybe the issue is when transferring out of steady state, when you’re effectively switching from one control system to another?

I should answer my own questions by trying the plugs that are currently sat on my bench I guess!

It probably will not help out right performance . BUT if it makes the other part of your riding experience better ? If your bike is running good then just "Let it Be".

Alright, that's excellent ! I wondered where the O2 sensors plugged in the harness, so it's under the tank ! Great !
I bring my bike to the belgian dealer today, so he can (hopefully) load the aftermarket exhaust mapping. When I get the bike back, I'll do the O2 sensor mod. Many thanks, Richard !

Thank Tony.

So unfortunately it was 39f (4c) this morning so I didn’t ride to work today. Promises to be 68f (20c) by afternoon so I’ll go for another rip after work. Anyhow, so far it does seem to have eliminated my flat spot. I tried cruising (which was not easy as This bike just want so to go... or I do??? Lol)

I used to get a lot of hesitation and lack of power between 3,500-4,500. I believe the through pipes fixed that. At 4,200 I had a flat spot. If I cruised hovering above 4,000 as soon as I got to 4,200 it was like I let go of the throttle. Now>>>> no flat spot. I’m not telling anyone this lambda delete is the next best thing. Its what I did and I’m very happy so far.

Keep in mind my bike has the following mods: (or specs if you will)

ALL Bosch sensors
Bosch coil
One07 Plug wires
Iridium plugs
077-0116 map
Latest BIN file
SC ECU
Lamba resistance plugs
OEM Through de cat pipes (not X PIPE)
(OEM) Motad shorties
(OEM) Chrome header
Ethanol free fuel 91
Rebuilt and balanced engine (balanced pistons and balanced shaft)
Extra breathing holes in engine
I do not have the norton breathing system.

So what do you think about the noise it makes now with the decat pipes+shorties vs when you still had the cats (and shorties) ? Does it make a big difference ?

If you wont say it , I WILL !

Its a bit louder but a different sound all together its a bit more deeper sound. Its a fantastic sound. I like it a lot. You’d be crazy not to wear earplugs if you plan on a ride longer than say half an hour.

Its strange though, the bike is definitely louder riding it than it passing you.
