McGuinness To race for Norton at 2018 IOM TT

I was shocked when i saw this on Norton's Facebook page. I wonder what it took to win him over?!

I think Honda may have not given him the respect he deserves. I think that when the bike crashed and he got hurt it started to go bad with him. Something about the transmission , I'm not sure. But one thing's for certain , there will be hell to pay when he's healed up. And if Norton can win they will be crying for joy in the streets. But make no mistake , this is a big task beating Team BMW and Team Japan.

I would imagine its the thought of driving a historic brand such as Norton, bit of an outside chance nowadays and the thrill of the chance to win again and give a boost for a classic british company at the same time.

That is fantastic news!!

Don't forget they did pretty well last year with 6 & 7th in both races, and I think I'm right in saying the only team to get both bikes home.

Cheers,

cliffa

If Norton get on the podium the resale value of V4s will make a jump!

I had a good nosey around the V4 last week, they are really impressive. Exquisite even. If I thought I could use 200bhp and retain my licence / freedom / life, I’d have one!

Fantastic, do you have accommodation, are you taking a bike over
Yes accommodation booked, going over with the motorhome with my son's yzf125 in the back and have arranged for someone else to take my Ducati in his van. It would've been nice to take the V4RR but I doubt it will be built in time.

Holy MAN ! You bought a V4RR . You lucky devil ! That is going to be historic over there this year !

The RR is the carbon fibre finished version, is that correct?

That just looks stunning. Way better than the chrome plated job IMHO...

And it leaves you enough ‘change’ for a Sport compared to the SS!

Guy Martin called it "a box full of neutrals" I think he 'fell' out of favor also.

I believe the RR is available in the chrome finish but I have ordered the carbon.

Both the RR and the SS are available in Chrome or Carbon finish. The SS gets the costlier billet parts and comes standard with the BST carbon wheels. The RR gets the easier to produce cast and welded parts. The level of finish may also be better on the SS. I think the SS is a limited run at this time 200 units which are all signed for (meaning sold) ?? Can someone verify this ? I think this is accurate.

Yes , I saw that. But this is Honda UK which is a world all their own ?

Nothing with the Honda brand on it is off the radar of the parent company. Or very far past the reach of it's firm hand.
