I noticed this sign in “ MCC” the norton Chicago dealer ,no idea how much it costs,got to be at least the cost of the fuel,but advantages are any probs or running issues can be soughted whilst its in the dealer, inc swapping pipes over & first service taken care off,never seen this sign anywhere else,is it an American winner ? Or is done anywhere here in the UK, think MXmartin , welshrugby & fasteddie may wanna sign up , what are your views ?Richard

Back in the '80s I broke in a Rotax race bike on the dyno in Phil Darcy's shop in Texas, on the way to Daytona. Part of his test setup was a flow meter on the breather outlet, and he said you could tell when the rings had seated by watching the flow rate decrease from an initially high value to a lower constant value. I thought that was pretty cool at the time. It seemed to work really well. We had no smoke or oil blow by at the track. Unfortunately, the balance shaft broke in practice and trashed the bottom end.

omg, what a good idea, maybe the last 300 miles on the first section of the run in where you should observe 3500 revs max. But then you can go 4500 revs for the next 600 miles or so which takes you to 80mph and from therein surely one can tolerate. I may change my mind, any UK runners inners and not the human type

I had MCC do this for me 2 years ago prior to shipping my bike to me. Unfortunately, they did it with the stock exhaust system and then proceeded to install the Motad pipes (as well as my BST wheels ) shortly after. The bike sat there for 5 more months, but they ignored my request to research a newer, more appropriate fuel map. I'm confident they wouldn't make the same mistake these days. The new service manager is way more communicative!

My new 2003 Aprilia Tuono was run in on the dealer dyno at the 1st check up. If it was going to have a problem it would have happened then. Over 65,000 miles with no engine problems. Three valve checks since then with no shims needed!
