Sensors TRIAL

Nice! You got them for a great price.
Yes, but was a bit surprised that the temp sensor was outsourced to India. Well ....not surprised. More like a little disappointed. There's a company in California that manufactures sensors based on BOSCH designs. They claim better and upgraded quality at lower price than BOSCH's dated designs. Also sold at AutohausAZ.

OK just finished the Bosch engine management sensor upgrade. No question about the improvement in how the engine runs. Rain today so all I could do was start up and run a while. Replaced the coil, head temp, cam, speed sensor. Iridium NGK plugs and one07 wires. Cold start is much better.

Richard, I've mentioned this in another post, but this thread seems like an appropriate place to ask the question. Have you looked into a replacement for the crankshaft position sensor yet?

We have not. Matt Capri used to open up the holes and push them up and tighten to advance the timing though.

If you're in the US the best price I found on the sensors was German Auto Supply LTD. They're on the net and ship free. Everything in a Bosch box with proper part number on the part.

So I guess the next step is to identify the proper part number for a Bosch crankshaft sensor. Anybody know already?

Ken

Yeah. They’re all ignition pickup up sensors aren’t they. Probably because in old bikes that was the only one.

I've also seen where they were referred to "TDC Sensor" as well but that was easy to figure out.

One more data point for the coil discussion. I just replaced the one in my 2014 Sport, and it was not a Bosch. No markings at all except a multi-digit number. I'm also planning to do the wires, cam sensor, and head temp sensor, but I'm trying to make the changes one at a time to see if I can notice any difference. I'm still holding out on the breather mod kit for a while to see if I need it. I'd like to avoid the cost of the kit, but I'll go for it if I have to. Or just cobble up my own.

Richard's service manuals were very helpful in removing the tank, although as a California model, mine has some extra hoses going to some sort of emissions device under the swingarm, which is not mentioned in either Richard's instructions or the factory service manual (at least the older one that I have). But it was still pretty straightforward.
