Would a Chinese Norton be that bad ?

I love Harleys at least in the states. As mentioned, it partly patriotism. Also, as far as reliability and dealer/factory support as well as aftermarket production, there is not a British vehicle that can come close. Most of my riding buddies have had 10 years of trouble free riding on a HD, and if they did have a problem, you cant spit on Long Island without hitting a Harley dealership. If the developed a problem riding cross country, dealerships would give them a loaner to complete their ride and they would pick it up on their return trip. I DIDNT buy a new HD because that style of riding at the moment didnt appeal to me. I still have a little sport left in me. Didnt want to ride a 900 lb. beast for a 100 mile day trip. That's for the flag waving retired dudes. I really wouldn't go knocking the quality of a Harley until the british could build something better. (notice... I didnt say cooler) Even the Thaiumph dealerships are dropping out in the area.

Yeah,
Harleys are fine for highway riding, but I prefer something nimbler and lighter for sporting rides.
I don't think they have any particular flaws, they are just targeted to a specific group of rider requirements.
Just like Adventure bikes, superbikes, touring bikes, etc....
Most manufacturers try to target several of these groups, Harley - just one.
I have two friends who own Hogs, a Fatboy and a 1200 Roadster, and except for normal service, they have never had their bikes back to the dealer.

That's gotta say something about Hogs.;)

Electric kettle as in crock pot?
I have one of these. 100% made in USA cookers. All stainless steel. https://www.360cookware.com/collections/slow-cooker

For toast I use this.

No an electric kettle just for boiling water to make a cup of tea etc. The first time I was in America one of the things I noticed was that you don't really use them, you boil water on the cooker hob.
Dualit are good but you have to be careful, only the expensive ones are made in UK, cheaper ones are made in China ( I know to my cost, mine broke after 18 months and I found out that it had no user serviceable parts, I had to chuck it.)

also puts out ~ 90hp vs the usual 60+

Hey Guys , I thought I told you that HD XR1200 is a great handling motorcycle ? It can really be hustled through the twisties ! Good looking too !

At 110 volts from the mains you are going well too get the water hot enough to have a shave, never mind getting a good hot builders mug of tea!

Exactly. I agree. HD targets only one narrow market. Heavy, fat, lazy bikes. They refuse to go outside their comfort zone.
That is exactly why they have poor sales. Their one bike design for all 30+ models of bikes they have are getting so old it’s boring.

If by cooker hob you mean stove top than yes we do boil water on the stove, microwave or Keurig.

That is what he means. I find an electric kettle a waste of energy for one person, why? You need to put more water in to cover the electric heater which you pay to heat up, one cup/ mug of water on a gas hob takes exactly 90 seconds to boil no waste, no extra on the fuel bill. I also have a hotel type single teapot, but coffee tastes just as good. Must go and make another cuppa . . . .

. . .

I think you misunderstood my answer.
Yank/Brit terminology confusion on gas/cooker hob. As Voodoo implied, we yanks don't really use the term 'hob'.

Nonetheless, I pay utility companies including electric, gas and water. Thus, our 'fuel' bills would include both the gas and electric. So, whether heating water on a gas stove (hob), or in an electric kettle, it adds to our fuel bill.

"hob" from the old English "hobbity-bibity-bob"

A device upon which one heats up a cuppa for elevenses.

Looks like the Chinese Norton will fall by the wayside, looking very much like the Indians will pick it up.

The legality of the 961 going to China was on dodgy ground as HMRC WUP was active and a company can not move asset whilst the WUP is active. This practice was allowed up to a couple of years ago but was stopped.
Looks like the TM will be in Indian hands in the very near future.
