Winter Projects 2021: The List

Here’s my list of at least the start. You saw that I already did the barrel. The other day I replaced the shifter seal, there may be a video on this some day.

Next up is trying to sort the rear set peg. Even though I used locktite the bolt still loosened up enough to turn. I’m not sure why they are made this way and not fixed but ok.

So how to lock it into place? More locktite? Try to pin it into place? JB Weld? Thoughts?

My Norton is all good the same as my other bikes, but will be starting back on the project Manxman/Cafe Racer project bike soon its been on hold for a few years now collecting dust, pulled it out from the back of the shed, but my daughter has just moved out so her room to be refurbished and the inside of my house reno will be all complete, so its going to be a good start to the new year for me and will keep me busy while I watch what is happening with this virus around the world.

Good call. That’s what I ended up doing.

Ok, on to the next thing on the list...

Uh, I just saw that fixing the foot peg wasn’t on the list. I guess we’ll just call that a bonus!

No pointer on your shifter assy? How do you know what gear you are in?
Do you look at the pointer every time you shift?

Once you’ve put any time on these bikes you should be able to tell just by what RPM you are at and speed you are going. There are only four gears.

I wish I had an indicator on my Guzzi. With six gears it’s easier to get lost.

I lost my pointer 40 years ago and have never had any problems knowing what gear I am in, as well its in a stupid place anyway, if you rely on taking your eyes off the road to look down to see what gear you are in is dangerous and as Dave said I don't rely on taco or speedo to know what my Norton is doing, get use to the feel and sound of your Norton is the best way.

Swoosh, next time you have the rear sets apart, file a very smal ‘V’ into the head of the Allen screw, then when it’s as tight as you can get it, punch the alloy plate in the area of the V punching material into the V.

Swoosh,
Is AMR still doing the timing cover modification?

My Norton doesn't need much, but its rider needs a lot of fettling.

You didn’t like my pinning job?

Winter 2021 list includes:

Taking down the holiday lights.

Sweeping the damn Douglas fir needles off the driveway, and picking the needles out of every crevice on the cars.

Spring 2021:

Belt drive clutch maybe for the P11.
Vintage Air for the '65 El Camino

When I could still feel the tips of my fingers, I had winter projects.

Have fun you winter warriors.
