Who will be the next John Surtees

Very nice.
Thank you!

And to answer. Don’t think it will happen.
Things are different and so is the money ..

Throughout modern history, the greatest racing car drivers began their motor sport careers by racing motorcycles. Over the years I have known four racing car drivers who have tried to move into motorcycle racing. Every one of them met with almost instant disaster. However when Wayne Gardner retired from MotoGP, some idiot put him into a V8 Supercar, which he immediately tipped up onto it's roof. After crashing a MotoGP bike a few times, that would be a worry ?
I suggest that even the most mediocre motorcycle racer, would have more feel for what their vehicle is doing than most of the racing car drivers on our planet. It is mot a matter of money, money cannot buy you the skill which comes out of painful experience. If you crash a motorcycle, it is NOT 'flats on the tyres, back to the pits'. One of our better racing car drivers once said to me ' I have to give it to the motorcycle racers - they really race'.

Tazio Nuvolari
Berndt Rosemeyer
Remor Taruffi
Achille Varzi
Mike Hailwood
Jack Brabham
John Surtees

All came up by road racing motorcycles. Perhaps we should take more pride in what we do ?

will never happen again, and should have been knighted 40years ago. travesty when you see the recipients of knighthoods to day. a bloody secretary to the pm?

Stirling Moss rode scooters in retirement, and was a very good instinctive driver/ racer.

I don't think much of racing car drivers, however I would never drive a racing car. At least when you crash a motorcycle, you don't usually get burned to death. Trevor Pound was one of our best road racers. He got injured in the UK, so came back to Australia where he raced an historic car. He realised he had the fuel tank across his legs, so he gave it away and went farming. His farm was named 'Hillberry' after his favourite corner on the IOM.

Many things will never happen again because most things only happen once - every other time is different.
