Hi all,

I tried to find some infos about it through the searching tool, without success... I there's already the same post somwhere, don't hesitate to give me the link !

--> On which websites do you buy your Commando's spare parts?

I restored last winter my 74' 850 MK2 engine, buying parts on http://www.rgmnorton.co.uk/. Parts quality are for me OK, but as I'm currently restoring the rest of the bike, inclusive the gearbox (I will change the 8 gears), I'll have to do a big order. That's why I'm searching if there's another website with cheapers and/or with higher quality parts.

I've had a look to http://www.norvilmotorcycle.co.uk/ but as the parts are cheapers on RGMNorton, I've chosen the second one.
I also heard about http://coloradonortonworks.com/ and had a look on it, but it seams that there's not all parts available...like gearbox parts!

In the same time, what is your opinion on the parts coming from RGMNorton website? Did someone of you already has troubles with these ones?

Thanks
Vincent

Old Britts in Washington State is my favorite. Just redid my gearbox and they had everything that I needed.
Good knowledgeable people.

Where are you to Vincent .... shipping costs can be a bugger .... I am in Canada so I try and do my shopping in country .... Brit Cycle Supply is close for me .... they have a bad web site but you can phone in the evenings and ask for Martin ... they also have a location in the USA .... I have bought parts from all the shops you and Lab mentioned and really have had no bad experience .... other than the money exchange and the all ready mentioned shipping , plus duty plus tax thing that happens in Canada .... good luck with gear box ... I got my GB stuff from Walridge Motors also in Canada

+1 for Old Britts. I think their website is very easy to navigate and work up an order on. Excellent service.

+2! I'm in the middle of a top-end refresh and potential layshaft bearing badness, and they have everything I need, both parts and specialty tools. Also, it's a great info point for exploded parts views. Add their tech articles as a great resource.

Thank you guys.

I'm from France, living in Switzerland. The VAT is at 8% here, what is more interesting compare to other countries...

I looked a little bit your sites:
- AndoverNorton: this transfers me on the nortonmotor.de website (in the UK as the prices are in £ ??!!). You can here select your model and also chose what you want on the drawings, what is really appreciable. I'll compare a little bit the prices with RGM.. Do you know if the prices are inclusive or not VAT ? Does anyone of you get experience with their parts??

- Oldbritts: I've not really seen what you talk about. I don't see any drawing as on Andover and there's not so much parts for my 74'... but a lot more for the others. But then how to be sure if the parts are OK for mine if I look into other years lists ? Do you also know if the prices are with or without VAT?

Andover Norton are as close to original equipment quality as you can get, and most of RGM's parts are A/N origin unless otherwise stated- their website shows the parts origin. RGM ship a bit faster and have some nice 'aftermarket' stuff as well.
Both are great to deal with, and are equally customer focussed.
The other supplier has had some bad press, which is a shame as they can be a a good source for some stuff, but not always.
