Spent the best part of two hours trying to get my turn signal switch back together including sweeping the floor to find the dang ball bearing. Then it still didn't work and needed more cleaning of the contacts. Right now it's sitting there apart taunting me. Whose frickin bright idea was it to mount a ball bearing on the end of a spring. Did they think these switches would never need cleaned because my experience is they corrode up pretty easily. Any tips.

Stiff silicon grease helps keep everything together during assembly.

I knew what I was in for when I did my Headlamp switch. I left it secured near the handlebar and worked on it carefully so as not to loose those springs etc. Silicon grease and a clean up and its as good as new. Not too bad for a 45 year old switch, and a Jo Lucas one at that. Knowing what you are dealing with is important for us older guys with eyesight like ours.

Ps I did forget to mention I used the same technique when doing my indicator switch.

I too had to sweep my shop floor searching for the little ball bearing. But I found it and using some dialectic grease to hold it in place was easily able to get my switch back together and working. Dialectic grease on the contacts will prevent corrosion.

Disassemble the switches inside a plastic bag. That will ensure you don't lose anything. As noted, silicone grease (AKA dielectric grease, AKA distributer grease) is your friend for all electrical connections.

I love em! But I do have problems with the tiny screws corroding ,getting stuck. Try rebuilding a modern plastic handle bar switch:confused:
