What is this? OR Where did I find it? and/or what does it do?

I found it as I was taking apart my 73 850 Roadster.

Hint, I think it is broken.

L.A.B and Grandpaul are ineligable. No Heavy Weights. I'm in a Light Weight Division.

What is this?

Good Luck.

Looks like the spacer for the chainguard that fits at the middle mounting point and keeps the chain from flexing to far downward. I didn't realize it had anything to do with chain oiling! ;)

Thats where I found it. On the middle bolt of the Chain Guard. It's not in the parts catalog. Very good. Looks like johntickle wins.

Thanks, I never would have figured this out.

I was looking on the frame page where the chain guard is. I would have never, at my stage of experence, put the two together. Especially with the part being broken and thus not looking anything like what it is supposed to look like.

It was clearly left there to keep from crushing the guard.

Thanks for the help all.

That's a pretty good size wolf spider, but I think a dog makes a better pet!

Danno, we don't want to kill you, but if you get too close, we may roll you for your loose change. Pennies make dollars and dollars buy Stainless Steel parts.

How's that for an American-made ruler?

Intriguing contrast ~ regarding rulers ~

The Seely's USA ruler would probably sell on EBay as seen above as opposed to (dia'lophs ) Chinese unit ~

"It was clearly left there to keep from crushing the guard. "

That's what I thought it's purpose was! I wondered why it had a ridge around it! I never looked at the parts book.
