I was working on my 70 Norton and saw that there was some metal stuff in the new fuel line. Figured that was from my brand new steel gas tank that I got from Commando Specialties. Got the metal or what ever it was out using carb cleaner and air, but I noticed a film on the inside of the fuel line but only on the left side not the right. Has anyone else ever run across this?

Maybe the carb cleaner etched the inside of the line. Its pretty powerful stuff.

Try a magnet on the debris to see if it is iron/steel or alloy from the fuel taps.

Water scale from our lovely ethanol-laced motion lotion.
That sounds like as good an explanation as any.
Just got back from a trip up into Oklahoma and several filling stations are now sell non-ethanol fuel along side the ethanol crap. Cost a bit more but there is a market for it or they wouldn't sell it.
