I currently run K70s and plan to switch to Avons. What is the metirc size I should run on a stock 73? Are Avon Roadriders the best choice for a modern style tread tire for Commandos?
Can you only run this tire on a stock Commando by changing to an 18 inch rear wheel? Are there any modifications that are needed for the width as well?
100/90-19 is not an exact equivalent for a 4.10-19...for example the popular Avon AM-26 Roadrider is not recommended for the stock WM2 rim (1.85") by Avon and the profile will be visibly pinched if you mount one (though many here have done it and lived to tell the tale). 90/90-19 tires are generally OK on WM2 rims (but check the makers specs to be sure), easy to find a front in that size but am not aware of a rear.

The info above is not correct despite being from an Avon site...the 100/90-19 does not fit the stock WM2 1.85" rim correctly and this is plainly visible if you mount one, the profile is pinched by the too narrow rim. The Avon page for the AM26 specs WM3 2.15" as the minimum width for a 100/90 tire (as do the specs from many other makers of 100/90 tires)
(and I DO realize many have run 100/90 tires on stock rims without incident)
